BlackTrust is a Mexican technology platform dedicated to identity validation and background checks that helps companies evaluate job candidates, customers, or suppliers.

Q: How is BlackTrust positioned within the Mexican recruitment and background check ecosystem?

A: We are in the business of trust, helping organizations determine if they can confidently engage with an individual or a company as an employee, supplier, client, or partner. BlackTrust operates a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform that addresses three core areas: pre-employment selection, operational risk, and regulatory compliance. Our greatest strength lies in identity verification and legal background checks. We evaluate about 150,000 individuals per month, and over our 13 years in the market, we have assessed 14 million people. This extensive track record means we have accumulated over 351 million data points in our data lake, allowing us to leverage AI to structure information, identify patterns, and ultimately build trust in the global market.

Q: How is BlackTrust's offering divided and what is each service line dedicated to?

A: Our offering is divided into three main service lines tailored to the specific pain points of our clients. The first line, pre-employment verification, focuses on selection and recruitment. Companies often know exactly what they do not want in a candidate, and we help them establish those filtering criteria; for example, screening for a history of merchandise theft for logistics roles or verifying credit histories for financial directors. The second line focuses on security risk assessment and management, which is directly tied to a client's daily operations. This includes mitigating risks associated with activities such as opening bank accounts or onboarding new operational partners, ensuring that potential threats do not disrupt the business.

Our third service line is dedicated to regulatory and legal compliance, which has become increasingly critical in Mexico. This line focuses on ensuring that our clients meet the legal requirements for preventing money laundering, particularly for vulnerable activities, by thoroughly verifying identities and checking backgrounds. Furthermore, we help companies audit their suppliers to ensure they are in full compliance with tax authorities.

Q: What differentiates BlackTrust from other providers in the market?

A: Our primary differentiator is our demonstrated scalability and technological capacity, supported by our proprietary AI model named Patrones. Few providers can process 150,000 evaluations with a five-minute service level agreement and a total automation rate exceeding 80%. Patrones is specifically trained to pull and structure legal data from various public sources across the country. Because each state registers legal proceedings differently, our AI standardizes this scattered data into consistent, readable formats and accurately categorizes legal matters, ensuring our clients receive clear and actionable information.

Our second major differentiator is the deep market expertise we have developed over 13 years of evaluating 14 million individuals. We deeply understand local variables, such as homonymy, which is a significant challenge in Mexico due to common names. To solve this, we developed a proprietary homonymy algorithm fed by demographic data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), which accurately filters out false positives. This demographic intelligence also allows us to identify, for example, that less than 1% of women in our database have committed crimes, drastically refining our risk models. This technological edge, combined with the extensive industry knowledge retained by our long-tenured team members, ensures we can expertly guide our clients through complex scenarios.

Q: How does the integration process with your clients work and to what extent does it adapt to their needs?

A: We deliver our services through three distinct methods tailored to each client's technological maturity, beginning with our proprietary ISO 27001-certified web platform and direct Application Programming Interface (API) integrations. Our web platform allows non-technical teams, particularly human resources departments, to configure customized screening profiles, track evaluations via a centralized dashboard, and securely store compliant reports with full traceability. For organizations seeking automated workflows, our API provides a highly scalable option that eliminates manual data entry entirely by funneling background check data directly into existing enterprise systems.

The third integration method involves fully customized development projects where we embed our microservices directly into a partner's native software or application. Designed for technologically mature clients requiring a frictionless end-user experience, this collaborative approach integrates our verification models directly into operational onboarding flows. For example, we built tailored integrations for major logistics and delivery platforms, ensuring new driver registrations remain strictly contingent on our automated background clearance before access is granted.

Q: How is BlackTrust integrating AI into each of its business lines?

A: We deploy AI fundamentally through backend microservices that support all our business lines equally, meaning the intelligence operates independently of the specific service the client uses. The core of this operation is our proprietary AI model, Patrones, which connects to our data lake of over 351 million records. When a query is launched, Patrones filters, structures, and indexes the raw data, intelligently removing irrelevant information, such as legal records from before an individual turned 18 years old. Our next technological milestone is an advanced system named Revelations, which will go beyond data extraction to actively generate predictive connections and insights across all the information residing in our data lake.

Q: The adoption of AI agents is multiplying the number of identities that organizations must manage. How will this change redefine identity and access management within companies?

A: The focus must shift entirely toward protecting the human user's digital identity and ensuring the secure origin of their data. It will not matter if an individual is executing an action directly or through an AI agent they programmed; what will be critical is confirming that the agent is pulling validated credentials from a secure, personal digital wallet. Therefore, the redefinition of access management will center on verifying the authenticity of the core identity source and decentralizing it from government control, rather than auditing the autonomous intermediaries performing the tasks.

Q: What controls should organizations implement to protect themselves from deepfakes and identity theft?

A: The primary risks stemming from deepfakes and identity theft center on the sophisticated manipulation of facial biometrics, official identity documents, and employment credentials. In the Mexican market, this threat extends beyond simple identity spoofing to widespread document fraud as well as severe regulatory liability when unvetted suppliers engage in money laundering activities.

To counter these threats, organizations must implement advanced biometric validation tools that can instantly analyze facial imagery and detect digitally altered identification cards without relying exclusively on legacy government databases. Furthermore, businesses must adopt AI powered document analysis systems and rigorous compliance controls to identify subtle structural edits in submitted paperwork, replacing manual, error-prone verification processes with automated safeguards.

Q: How will the background check market evolve over the next year and what role does BlackTrust intend to play in that transformation?

A: We foresee a massive boom in the risk management and compliance sectors, driven by stricter anti-money laundering regulations and the urgent need to combat deepfakes. This segment of the market is projected to experience a robust growth rate of 15% to 20%. Conversely, we expect a deceleration in traditional pre-employment screening, as the broader economic slowdown and the integration of AI into repetitive roles will likely freeze overall hiring volumes.

In this transforming landscape, BlackTrust intends to position itself as the definitive leader in operational risk and compliance, focusing our technological capabilities on sectors where the demand for rapid, hyper-accurate data is becoming a mandatory operational requirement.

Q: In what directions will BlackTrust expand in terms of geographical reach, new services, or vertical sectors?

A: Our strategic roadmap leading up to 2027 is intensely focused on technological innovation within the risk management and compliance verticals, rather than merely expanding our traditional pre-employment services. We recently launched a new, highly scalable platform designed to integrate our three core business lines, allowing them to interact and provide a holistic risk management system for suppliers, clients, and internal employees. Our primary goal is to achieve a 90% automation rate per client, eliminating the need for manual intervention during onboarding. By strengthening our facial recognition, proof of life, and deepfake detection capabilities, we are laying the foundational infrastructure to launch a proprietary digital identity wallet by 2028, empowering users to securely own and share their validated credentials.
