If You Want Your Dreams to Come True, Wake UpBy Javier García Iza | Mon, 03/29/2021 - 12:59
The Triune Brain is a model proposed by neuroscientist Paul MacLean to explain the organization of the human brain as a set of three brains in one, each with its own functioning logic. It is made up of the reptilian (also called the R-complex), which is responsible for vital functions such as breathing, balance and body temperature; the paleomammalian (also known as the limbic system), responsible for controlling and expressing emotions such as love, happiness, frustration and anger; and the neocortex, responsible for more advanced thoughts and reason. The survival mechanism of our species (fight-flight-freeze response) is basically due to the combined functioning of the reptilian and limbic systems.
The neocortex is the most evolved part of our brain and the one that differentiates us from the other animals. It is responsible for intelligence, planning, innovation, complex problem solving, abstract thinking, visionary ideas, tool making, a higher level of consciousness, language, social behavior and quality of life. It also helps us develop the ability to plan, visualize where we want to go in the future or imagine what our lives should be like. We use it to improve, prepare and strive to achieve our goals. This ability has become the most powerful engine for change and development, both as individuals and as a species; it is the main base for growth and well-being.
The great thing about imagining something different for ourselves and fulfilling our dreams is that we don't have to train ourselves to do it; it’s an inherent ability in human nature, it’s already within us, we were born with it. We just have to start doing it.
We all have plans, dreams and goals to achieve. We imagine our future and our life in 10, 20, 30 years or more, but often, as time goes by, we realize that we have seen life go by without getting closer to what we imagined some time ago.
As we move forward, we ask ourselves, what happened to our annual goals, are we on track with most of them, are our goals at work on track, are we making any significant progress? You don't need to be great to start, but you need to start to become great. The best time to start is now; a good plan today is better than the perfect plan tomorrow.
We may stray along the way, take a shortcut or a longer path, have setbacks, even add or modify some of our objectives, but to achieve the desired success and go far, we have to start walking. As we move forward, we realize that success comes with endless emotions like hard work, patience, vision, effort, loss, sleeplessness, passion, fear, perseverance and desire. On the way up, we will have to make sacrifices, but we will also learn to be strong and positive, to try hard, fail, try again and get back up. No matter how high the mountain is, if you want to reach the top, you must first lose your fear of heights.
Sometimes, we get carried away by inertia and the opinions of others, allowing fear to enter our lives and we stop taking risks to pursue our dreams. But it is important to get back on track and work to achieve your goals and live as you always dreamed. Make the child you were yesterday proud of the adult you are today.
At IOS OFFICES, we have transformed the connotation of the word work, which is commonly seen as routine, boring, monotonous, and done out of obligation, necessity or even without desire. Here, we have turned it into something fun. We get people to come to work with pleasure and for pleasure; they don't "have" to come to work, they want to come to work, they don't just get dressed to come to the office, they put on the attire and get in a mood of harmony, happiness and productivity.
Our spaces have been designed and adapted to create an optimal environment, with all the amenities to meet the needs of our Community of more than 20,000 users. We are a virtuous circle of positivism, productivity and happiness, where we make magic happen. It’s contagious. Or as we say in Spanish, “la magia se contagia.” Our members come to IOS OFFICES and exceed their dreams.
Achieving our dreams is not easy, but it’s part of our nature to strive for what we desire. It is essential for each of us to have the right mindset and to see that effort as the path to happiness. Being happy is not a destiny, it’s about enjoying the path.
Sir Edmund Hillary, the first person to conquer Everest, was once asked, "why do you climb it?" He replied: "Because it is there." I invite you to have clear objectives, to set goals that will help you reach the place you dreamed of yesterday, enjoying every step of the way. Be the author of your own destiny.
Remember that if you want to make your dreams come true, the first thing you must do is wake up.
