BASF Recognized for ESG Leadership at HSBC 2025 ELIS Awards
BASF has been recognized as a Leader in Sustainable Innovation in the Social category at HSBC’s 2025 ELIS Awards, which honor companies integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into their business strategies in Mexico.
Through its social strategy, BASF focuses on creating shared value by combining innovation with social responsibility. The company emphasizes that sustainability goes beyond environmental stewardship to include strengthening the social and economic fabric of the communities where it operates.
BASF’s programs aim to create inclusive opportunities, enhance quality of life, and promote resilience in the face of global challenges such as climate change and food security. These goals are advanced through strategic partnerships with organizations including the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), UNESCO Mexico, Fundación ProMéxico Indígena, Junior Achievement, and Reforestamos México, expanding the reach and long-term impact of its sustainability initiatives.
“BASF creates chemistry for a sustainable future,” said Verónica Hernández, BASF’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Sustainability, and Government for Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. “This recognition is meaningful because each project is developed in direct collaboration with communities to ensure long-term sustainability. True sustainability requires dialogue and a 360-degree approach to be effective.”
