BMW Group’s plant in San Luis Potosi is strengthening its sustainability and talent development strategy while preparing for electric vehicle production, according to its 2025 Corporate Social Responsibility report, which highlights full wastewater treatment, over 13,000 m³ in water savings and training programs reaching more than 12,000 students. The report positions sustainability as a core business driver as the facility advances toward integrating the Neue Klasse platform and high-voltage battery assembly by 2027.

The report, Driving Towards the Future, outlines actions to reduce environmental impact, promote circular processes and strengthen community engagement, while serving as a roadmap to consolidate partnerships and accelerate the transition to cleaner operations.

“In the framework of our tenth anniversary since the laying of the first stone, we are proud of the growth we have shared with San Luis Potosi. The achievements reached over this time inspire us to continue building a future together with our partners. My priority will be to strengthen the ties that ensure positive results continue to multiply through a collective, transparent and sustainable approach,” said Klaus von Moltke, President and CEO, BMW Group Plant San Luis Potosí.

On environmental performance, the plant reported treating 100% of its wastewater and reusing it in key processes, alongside saving more than 13,000 cubic meters of water in cooling towers. Biodiversity initiatives included reforestation campaigns with more than 450 volunteers planting over 1,000 trees.

In workforce and operations, the facility maintained approximately 3,700 employees, with women representing 36% of the workforce and 15 nationalities represented, reflecting its focus on diversity and inclusion.

The plant is also scaling its role in Mexico’s industrial and education ecosystem. Through partnerships with organizations including Programa Adopte un Talento (PAUTA), UNICEF and Colonia Juvenil, it supported educational and training initiatives reaching over 12,000 students and 1,000 teachers.

The facility received certification from the Mexican-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CAMEXA), validating its dual training standards and business collaboration model. Its dual education program marked its tenth anniversary, with more than 570 apprentices graduated to date.

As part of its academic collaboration strategy, the plant donated an industrial robot to the Universidad Tecnológica de San Luis Potosí, enabling more than 1,000 students in mechatronics and industrial production engineering to receive training in automation and robotics.

The plant’s operational roadmap includes the integration of BMW’s Neue Klasse platform, with plans to begin electric vehicle production and high-voltage battery assembly in 2027, aligning with broader investments in electromobility and advanced manufacturing.

The report consolidates BMW’s approach to aligning environmental management, talent development and industrial operations, reinforcing its long-term positioning in Mexico’s automotive and mobility sectors
