Chihuahua Launches Biological Pest Controls to Curb Pesticide Use
The government of Chihuahua has delivered biological pest control insects to 50 agricultural producers in the municipality of Camargo as part of a state-wide initiative to transition away from chemical agrochemicals. Managed by the state’s Ministry of Rural Development, the program aims to substitute synthetic pesticides with natural predators to curb crop damage while safeguarding local ecosystems.
Mexico Commits MX$20 Billion to Restore Three Major Rivers
The Mexican government will invest more than MX$20 billion (US$1.15 billion) during President Claudia Sheinbaum’s administration to restore the Atoyac, Tula, and Lerma-Santiago river systems, one of the country’s largest environmental and water infrastructure initiatives. The program combines wastewater treatment, sewer infrastructure, industrial discharge control, riverbank restoration, and environmental monitoring to improve water quality for millions of people. The investment was announced during the federal government’s morning press conference on July 16 by President Claudia Sheinbaum, Alicia Bárcena, Minister of Environment, and Efraín Morales, Director, National Water Commission (CONAGUA).
FINSA Cuts Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 17.2% in 2025
FINSA reduced its total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 17.2% in 2025, according to its latest Sustainability Report. The report outlines the company's ESG performance from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2025, with data prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards and the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) framework for the real estate sector. The reporting process was led by FINSA’s Vice Presidency of Human Capital and Sustainable Development, while Valora Consultores independently verified the information to ensure transparency, traceability, and data accuracy.
Mexico Carbon Forum 2026 Pushes National, Regional Carbon Policy
The sixth edition of Mexico Carbon Forum, organized by Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) subsidiary MÉXICO2, is officially set to take place Sept. 2–3 in Aguascalientes. The event — bringing together representatives from government, the corporate sector, and academia — will focus on advancing greenhouse gas emissions reductions in Mexico through carbon taxes, carbon markets, and carbon offset projects.
