Grupo Engen Cuts Emissions With 76% Hybrid-EV Fleet

Grupo Engen transitioned 76% of its internal corporate fleet to hybrid and electric vehicles during fiscal year 2025 while offsetting more than 320,000 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e) since 2022, according to its 2025 Sustainability Report. The company also expanded its operations to serve more than 7,000 active clients across Mexico through its main business units, Engen Capital and TIP México.

Google, America Airlines Sign Landmark SAF Agreement

Google and American Airlines have signed a multi-year sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) agreement aimed at reducing emissions from corporate air travel and accelerating demand for lower-carbon aviation fuels, a move that could help scale production in one of the most difficult sectors to decarbonize. The partnership will unlock 35 million gallons of SAF, a volume expected to prevent nearly 300,000tCO2e emissions. The agreement provides American Airlines with the commercial backing needed to secure a long-term SAF supply arrangement with energy producer Valero, strengthening demand signals for a market that continues to face limited production capacity and higher costs than conventional jet fuel.

Aeromexico, Grupo Bimbo Partner on SAF Adoption

Grupo Aeromexico and Grupo Bimbo have formed a strategic alliance to expand the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in the food company's corporate and business travel across Latin America, marking what the companies described as the first agreement of its kind in the region. Under the partnership, the companies will use internationally recognized SAF allocation and traceability mechanisms to account for emissions reductions. The arrangement will allow Aeromexico to reduce its Scope 1 emissions associated with fuel consumption, while Grupo Bimbo will lower Scope 3 emissions linked to employee business travel, supporting both companies' long-term decarbonization goals.

Corporate Sourcing Shifts Focus to Sustainable Suppliers: ANDE

Eight out of ten companies in Mexico consider sustainability an important procurement priority, reports the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE). According to the network, while sustainability budgets are historically smaller than purchasing allocations, corporate procurement represents a high-impact area that sustainable suppliers can target to be successfully integrated into larger corporate value chains. The preliminary findings from 19 surveyed corporations operating across retail, manufacturing, logistics, and consumer goods sectors indicate that while 80% of respondents consider sustainability an important procurement priority, only 21% have formally adopted impact metrics. The assessment notes that 42% of the participating entities self-identify as practitioners with non-systematized initiatives, while 47% remain in a developmental stage regarding impact targets.
