Mexico Prepares 2025–2030 Tourism Strategy with Puebla Officials

Mexico’s Minister of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, led a national meeting with Puebla state tourism officials to enhance coordination and advance a unified strategy positioning tourism as a driver of development and shared prosperity. Participants discussed the 2025–2030 Sectoral Tourism Program, the National Tourism Agenda, proposed reforms to the General Tourism Law, and preparations for major upcoming events, including the 2026 International Tourism Fair (FITUR) and the 2026 Tianguis Turístico.

Representing Puebla, Secretary of Tourism Development Carla López-Malo Villalón reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to working closely with President Claudia Sheinbaum’s administration to promote innovation, sustainability, and growth in tourism. “Our goal is to ensure that the benefits of tourism directly reach local communities,” López-Malo said.

Officials also agreed to launch promotional campaigns and solidarity initiatives to support the Pueblos Mágicos in Puebla’s Sierra Norte region, which were affected by recent heavy rains. These efforts aim to accelerate both economic and social recovery through tourism.

The meeting highlighted collaboration between federal and state authorities to modernize Mexico’s tourism framework, encourage sustainable development, and strengthen the country’s international presence. The 2025–2030 program is expected to serve as a roadmap for aligning local and national tourism policies, focusing on competitiveness, social inclusion, and environmental responsibility.
