Puebla Launches Reforestation in La Malinche National Park
The Government of Puebla has begun a reforestation project in La Malinche National Park, planting 50,000 pine trees as part of its contribution to Mexico’s National Water and Forest Sanitation Plan.
The project, led by Puebla’s Ministry of Environment, Sustainable Development and Territorial Planning, targets the 46,112ha area spanning Puebla and Tlaxcala. Rebeca Bañuelos, Minister of Environment, said the reforestation seeks to restore and conserve natural resources in the region.
In coordination with the State Public Security’s Forest Police, authorities are reinforcing measures to protect and maintain forests, supporting ecosystem conservation. Additional efforts involve collaboration with the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (CONANP), the National Forestry Commission (CONAFOR), and the Forest Guard to control bark beetle infestations through felling, cutting, debarking, and chemical treatments.
The Government of Puebla reaffirmed its commitment to President Sheinbaum’s environmental agenda and to the sustainable management of natural resources for the benefit of future generations.
