Q: How does EY Global Delivery Services (GDS) Mexico help companies navigate risks and volatility in the market?

SR: GDS operates in 10 countries and 21 cities across the world and we are trying to bring all that knowledge and experience to Mexico. We work with Fortune 50 companies in transforming their global operations. We aim to bring that knowledge, skills and experience to Mexico.

Q: What benefits does EY derive from bringing the GDS model to Mexico?

SR: Our research and engagement with the Mexican market has given us a high level of confidence on the quality of talent available in the country.

MS: We have expanded our workforce by 23 percent annually during the past few years. This led us to expand in the Mexican market, giving us an amazing opportunity to work on new projects, taking advantage of EY’s global network.

Q: What added value has EY found in Mexican talent?

SR: From a business standpoint, we benefit immensely from the exposure to a diversified workforce, which gives us the skills to serve our clients. It is also key for us to help our employees become global citizens; they might be based in Mexico, Spain, Poland or elsewhere, but they are global citizens of a business unit that operates across borders and geographies. Our people are essential in our strategic agenda. At EY, we are exceptionally proud of our culture as we are a living example of a multicultural, multiethnic and multilingual workforce.

Q: Why should companies build transformation strategies that make people the central focus?

MS: Even as we continue to build technology, we understand that without humans at the center, there is no humanity or consciousness. In that sense, we believe that humans will use technology, not the other way around. We know that human talent is the greatest asset that any company can have.

SR: The objective of any digital transformation is to make it easier to work. If a company does not keep its employees and customers at the center of operations, then they are not transforming. Companies should always put humans at the center of every decision and strategy that aims to transform their business.

Q: How is EY approaching Mexico’s role in the digital transformation journey?

MS: We aim to bring Mexico to the forefront of technology and help the country to become a key player in the new era we are living in. Historically, the Mexican market has focused on manufacturing but in the last few years, it has become clear that it has an important talent pool for the technology sector.

SR: One of the most strategic decisions we are making is investing in Mexican talent. We believe in the country and the talent it has.
