Mexico recorded its highest number of formal jobs in history as of March 31, with 22,465,110 positions affiliated with IMSS, announced President Claudia Sheinbaum.

"March marks the highest employment level in history: 22,465,110 jobs registered with IMSS. From Jan. 1 to March 31, 226,731 formal jobs were created. This is a very good figure," Sheinbaum stated. She attributed the increase to the current administration’s economic model, describing it as evidence that policies prioritizing lower-income populations yield positive results.

The rise in employment aligns with broader economic trends observed in the 1Q25, with a 19% increase in government revenues compared to the same period in 2024, adjusted for inflation. President Sheinbaum linked the revenue growth to tax compliance, noting that most taxpayers have met their obligations, though some remain resistant.

March marks the deadline for corporate tax filings in Mexico, which might have contributed to the increase in government income. Yet, Sheinbaum emphasized that the figures reflect economic stability and confidence in the government’s policies. IMSS employment data serves as a key indicator of formal labor market trends, reflecting both job creation and economic activity.
