An initiative to extend vacation periods for workers was voted unanimously by the Senate, in an effort to improve worker well-being.

This and more in this week’s roundup!

The Importance of Quality Recruitment

Itzel Vargas, Managing Director Mexico, Shermind Partners, explained that headhunting 4.0 allows companies to better determine candidate affinity. “The market has been revolutionized. There was a significant reactivation of hiring and today companies and candidates must also evolve. Candidates have more power because there is a shortage of top qualified talent and it is difficult to find. The challenge is not only to find the best people but to identify if the talent is willing to change. Many people also prefer flexibility over receiving higher salaries or working for higher-profile companies,” said Vargas.

Changes to Labor Laws Double Minimum Paid Vacations

Mexico’s Senate reached a unanimous agreement to modify labor rights for Mexican workers, voting to double the minimum annual paid leave for workers. "The vacation period considered in our labor legislation is one of the shortest in the world. Increasing the vacation days to which each worker is entitled is an act of social justice, in addition to a significant stimulus for domestic consumption that will result in the well-being of workers, as well as in productivity and competitiveness for companies," said national union leaders.

Technology Market Decelerates

Mexico’s technology market will likely face the effects of a possible recession, dropping 17.98 percent since July 2022, according to GlobalData Analytics database. “If companies choose to keep more people on the payroll than they have in past downturns, that might be reflected in tighter profit margins than we [have] seen in past recessions. But the payoff will come during the ensuing recovery, when companies will be in a better position to take advantage of rising demand,” wrote opinion columnist Conor Sen for The Washington Post.

Channel Organization Is Vital to Transmit Stories

New scenarios have forced organizations to modernize their communication channels, seeking to achieve strong impacts on media and social networks. “Communication is key in any business and association; learning to apply the different techniques that exist is a critical step in reaching the target audience and, most importantly, for clients to understand the message that we try to spread,” said Sergio Medrano, Regional Director, Be The Match® Latin America.
