Parkimovil was created to address a problem in the way people move around the city. Over the years, the platform has developed services that improve the experience of moving around the city through the creation of products that help people to move in a way that is safer, faster, more efficient and time-saving. We understand that innovation is what has driven the brand during all these years and that each new problem is an opportunity to develop a solution to improve people's lives.

Although innovation brings with it some challenges throughout the creation process — in the case of Parkimovil, learning at every step about the brand, testing and quickly launching products and once the product is launched, to improve it as soon as possible and relaunch it — it is vital to a company’s success.

For Parkimovil, using innovation helped it address the opportunities in the mobility segment that are available in Mexico. According to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI):

  • 40,000 million SMS were sent in 2015, more than 1,200 SMS per second.
  • 42 million users today use the smartphone to shop or pay.
  • More than 90 percent of motorists could use their cell phone to pay for parking.
  • 51 percent of users have bought something on the internet.

Innovation can also help overcome difficult challenges. At the beginning of the pandemic, for example, user mobility was affected in cities worldwide and these constraints were reflected in our user numbers. In February 2020, our app generated around 700,000 operations. This dropped to 247,000 in April as the pandemic took hold. However, this only encouraged the company to seek growth strategies while ensuring the health of its users, leading the platform to recover in December 2021 and reach 5 million operations, or 210 percent growth compared to 2019, along with a 10 percent increase in unique active users.

The growth of the application responds to national and international user acquisition strategies as well as the constant development of new and innovative products in the mobility industry.  Today, Parkimovil is active in the main cities of Mexico, offering different types of services dedicated to the intelligent mobility of people, always considering the development of new technological projects.

Why Is Innovation a Constant Variable?

Innovation has been one of the most important factors in our growth. We are constantly adapting and developing products that respond to new market needs. The creation of the virtual parking meter, for example, was born from the need to be able to pay for parking using an alternative to cash. This was our first project, which was concluded with the government of Zacatlán de las Manzanas in Puebla. In addition, the user can add more time to their parking meter from the app. Car insurance during the entire stay is included for any collision that the vehicle may suffer.

Our second project is another example of using innovation to meet a need: an alternative to pay for off-street parking, access and exit using the mobile app without having to take a ticket and avoiding contact with payment machines and cash. The app also helps avoid crowds, from the entrance to the parking lots to the lines at payment machines. Our app is easy to use and focused on saving the most valuable thing people have: their time.

Our innovation extends to security and the management of and access to residential areas and houses that have insufficient digitization, security and control. In response, we developed the access control Parkimovil” app that helps guards and residents register visitors, employees and residents and provides accurate data on access to the residential area with voice recordings and evidence as well as real-time notifications of access and exits.

From this same need to improve security and streamline entryways, arose the idea of creating school access control, a project also created by our internal team to help tutors and schools to improve the exit and entry of students through an app and by providing accurate data regarding the time of entry as well as the tutor or relative who delivers and picks them up. Thanks to our technology and due to health needs related to COVID-19, we also developed a form that must be pre-filled every day by the student's tutors and which indicates if they have presented COVID symptoms.

None of this would have been possible without the constant development of new projects, the knowledge of the needs of our market and rapid testing, development and improvement. Above all, none of this would have been possible without innovation and our team of professionals who are committed to change and improving mobility around the world.
