In 2024, Mexico experienced a 50% growth in investments in the luxury hotel sector, consolidating its position as a preferred destination for exclusive tourism. Global projections show an optimistic outlook for the luxury market, with an estimated value of US$107.77 billion in 2024, which could reach US$157.59 billion by 2029, reports Mordor Intelligence.
"The evolution of luxury is no longer focused only on monetary value, but on creating personalized and sustainable experiences that connect travelers with the local culture and environment," a spokesperson for GAYA, a leading construction project management company, tells E&N magazine.
Mexico has managed to position itself as a competitive destination for luxury tourism, making it the most sought-after destination in Latin America. Investors have significantly increased their contributions to the sector. Investment in luxury hotel projects not only responds to local demand, but also aims to capture the attention of international tourists interested in unique and transformative experiences.
According to CBRE, over 50% of investors have contemplated increasing their contributions in the hotel sector, with the most attractive markets being Los Cabos, Punta Cana, the Tulum-Cancun Corridor, and Punta Mita/Riviera Nayarita.
"About 64% of investors consider luxury hotels as the most promising options, while over 90% perceive resorts as the most profitable locations, outperforming other real estate assets," reads a CBRE article on the subject.

-
Sustainability: Luxury hotels in Mexico are adopting green practices to reduce their environmental impact. This includes the use of recycled materials, renewable energy sources, and programs to support local communities. In addition, the integration of vertical gardens, terraces with native vegetation, and outdoor spaces provides a deeper connection to nature, enhancing the traveler's experience.
-
Advanced technology for personalized experiences: Automation and home automation are transforming the guest experience in luxury hotels. Through mobile applications, guests can customize aspects of their rooms, such as temperature, lighting and entertainment. In addition, technologies such as augmented and virtual reality allow travelers to explore facilities prior to arrival, improving the planning and anticipation of their stay, says Adyen.
-
