Nuance Communications and Microsoft announced the launch of the Dragon Ambient eXperience (DAX) Express. This solution uses a combination of different types of AI to draft clinical notes in just a few seconds after each patient visit, whether in-person or via telehealth. With this solution, the workload for health professionals will be significantly reduced, says Nuance.

“Nuance and Microsoft came together with the goal of helping to digitally transform healthcare, and today we are marking the next step forward in the ongoing evolution of AI-powered solutions for overburdened care providers,” says Mark Benjamin, CEO, Nuance.

Nuance has focused on developing AI solutions for the healthcare industry. Dragon Medical One and DAX, which are older versions of DAX Express, have proven to improve care quality by supporting health professionals to be more efficient. DAX Express enters the market as the first clinical documentation application to combine two proven types of AI, conversational and ambient, with OpenAI's latest and most advanced model, GPT-4. This powerful combination results in a highly capable technology that is able to streamline the clinical documentation process for healthcare providers.

“With DAX Express, we are leveraging the revolutionary capabilities of large model AI to deliver outcomes-focused healthcare applications at scale," says Scott Guthrie, Executive Vice President of Cloud + AI Group, Microsoft.

DAX Express will be added to DAX and can also be used as an additional feature with Dragon Medical One. By integrating DAX Express, clinicians will be able to further reduce cognitive workload and alleviate burnout.

By using AI in healthcare, organizations can provide user-centric experiences through the use of large datasets and machine learning. This can lead to faster and more accurate insights, improving overall satisfaction, according to IBM. AI, along with the internet of things (IoT) and mobile health (mHealth), will have the largest global impact in terms of new technology, reaching an estimated value of US$36.1 billion, US$543.3 billion and US$111.8 billion by 2025, respectively, as reported by MBN

Mexico continues to explore and actively use AI. Médica Sur, for example, has invested in AI, computer systems, databases and communication technology to make its services available 24/7, as reported by MBN.
