Q: How is HCLTech positioned in the Mexican market, and what aspects would you highlight about its presence and performance in the country?
AB: We have established a solid and strategic presence in Mexico over the past 16 years. We originally focused on delivering nearshore services for the US market, but we expanded our approach about five years ago to serve Mexico as a market in its own right. We now operate five delivery centres across three cities, providing comprehensive IT services that support not only local clients but also global operations as an integral part of our global delivery network. Our expertise spans all major industry verticals and services, bringing valuable global insights and specialized capabilities to our Mexican clients.

Q: What differentiates the company from its competitors in the market?
PG: What truly differentiates us is our entrepreneurial culture and our "Employee First" philosophy, which empower individuals to find their spark and contribute meaningfully to our clients’progress. This unique culture, coupled with a strong focus on practical innovation, allows us to address complex needs efficiently. For example, as AI transforms industries, we have strategically developed platforms such as AI Xplore, which enables AI-driven service transitions and operational improvements. Our AI Foundry helps clients create business cases for transformative, AI-led initiatives. We also offer dedicated labs to support larger-scale AI applications, including setting up advanced processing capabilities for clients using Nvidia chips.
HCLTech stands out by offering customized, scalable solutions tailored to each client's needs, driven by our commitment to innovation.

Q: What are the main challenges your customers face and how is the company helping them address these issues?
AB: Our clients face diverse challenges, with one of the most pressing being how to harness the AI-driven transformation effectively. While AI and digital tools offer immense opportunities, translating these innovations into meaningful business transformations requires precise execution. We excel in realizing these visions by focusing on process optimization, standardization, and transformation, ensuring each element aligns to create value and differentiation. Through our Centres of Excellence (CoEs), we provide specialized technology expertise across industries, allowing us to streamline processes and address unique client needs efficiently.

Q: Which sectors in Mexico have benefited the most from HCLTech’s solutions and services?
PG: We have made a substantial impact in Mexico’s manufacturing sector, which is undergoing rapid expansion and transformation. The sector is experiencing a critical convergence of operational and information technologies, which allows for seamless integration within supply chains. Our solutions enable clients to gain comprehensive supply chain visibility and streamline operations. For example, through generative AI, we are able to automate entire supply chain processes, linking clients with third-party partners, optimizing inventory management, and introducing real-time pricing intelligence. Our tools allow our clients to make faster, cost-effective decisions without human intervention, enhancing both efficiency and strategic agility across the sector.

Q: What opportunities have you identified in recent months, and which sectors are you prioritizing?
AB: Our digital transformation efforts in Mexico have intensified across manufacturing, banking, financial services, telecommunications, media, and retail industries that are increasingly investing in technology. Over the past two years, we doubled our presence in the country, aiming to meet Mexico’s nearly US$30 billion market. The growth in demand for our Digital Business Services, Digital Foundation Services, and Digital Process Operations is driven by both local and global clients eager for transformative solutions, and we focus on aligning our expertise with their goals to fuel continued success.

Q: How is HCLTech leverage its strategic partnerships and alliances to develop better solutions for clients?
PG: HCLTech’s labs worldwide have made significant advancements through collaboration with our strategic alliances, which include some of the world’s leading technology providers, with a particular emphasis on the manufacturing sector – significantly benefiting our manufacturing clients in Mexico. We support seamless cloud migrations and have set up dedicated migration factories that leverage AI for efficient upgrades. Additionally, we established a specialized facility in Germany with one of our partners to develop industry-specific solutions. In parallel, our collaboration with an American multinational corporation and technology company has led to enhanced use cases across industries, while our partnership with another global technology leader focuses on advancing business intelligence and retail insights.

Q: How does HCLTech address the ethics, governance, and information reliability challenges arising from the use of generative AI?
AB: We recognize the ethical, governance, and reliability challenges posed by generative AI and we have taken specific steps to address them. Our approach involves implementing robust controls on language models, ensuring we can apply the appropriate model for each unique use case while adhering to privacy and data anonymity standards. We avoid dependency on any single model, allowing flexibility to meet specific requirements effectively. Our focus on governance helps mitigate risks, while our commitment to ethical AI use involves closely following standards and preparing for potential future challenges, ensuring responsible innovation across our applications.

Q: What new sustainability and social programs has HCLTech launched in Mexico?
AB: We have expanded our sustainability efforts by assisting clients in measuring and reducing their carbon footprints through tools that enable precise monitoring at factories, supporting their climate goals. We are proud of projects like Smart City initiatives and pollution control solutions for manufacturing sector in Mexico. We are also deeply committed to community impact, partnering with organizations like Laboratoria to empower young women in tech and launching reforestation efforts with "One Tree Planted," where satellite tracking ensures effective ecosystem restoration.

In 2023, we introduced the HCLTech Grant Americas program, committing $5 million in grants over five years to support scalable, replicable, and sustainable solutions to combat the global climate crisis. The second edition of this Grant recently launched, and we are proud to continue supporting Mexican NGOs leading climate initiatives. Additionally, our global Aquapreneur project, with a backing of $15 million, is dedicated to preserving clean water sources worldwide, including in Mexico.

Q: What cybersecurity strategies and technologies does HCLTech use to protect the sensitive data and the technological infrastructure of its clients?
AB: Our global Cybersecurity Fusion Centres, including one in Mexico, monitor threats in real time and coordinate responses to attacks. For our clients not directly using our security services, we assess operational vulnerabilities and implement mitigation plans. Internally, our independent risk and compliance team reports to the CEO, safeguarding our systems against cyberthreats. Our recent Cyber Resilience Report reveals that 81% of cybersecurity officers expect imminent threats, with 91% willing to partner with us for threat mitigation, highlighting the critical need for proactive cybersecurity strategies.

Q: What Latin American markets is HCLTech targeting?
PG: As one of the largest IT companies operating in Latin America, we are focusing on expanding in key markets such as Mexico, Brazil, Guatemala and Costa Rica. Our strategy includes establishing and scaling new delivery centres, labs, and experience zones leveraging our global delivery network. We are also a certified Top Employer in the region highlighting our inclusive work culture and the exceptional talent the region provides, empowering us to serve both local and global clients.

Q: What strategic recommendation would you offer to companies looking to enhance their technological capabilities and stay ahead in a rapidly evolving market?
AB: Companies should focus on two key areas: strengthening their cybersecurity posture and embracing digital transformation. First, maintaining business continuity is crucial, which involves investing in cybersecurity operations to safeguard against evolving threats. Second, organizations must foster a culture of digital adoption, leveraging advanced technologies to streamline operations and improve customer experiences. By prioritizing these strategies, companies can acquire a much stronger position in the rapidly evolving market.
