Samsung Expands Carbon Reduction Certifications for 2025 Displays
Samsung Electronics announced that approximately 80 models from its 2025 television, monitor, and soundbar lineup have received “Product Carbon Reduction” and “Product Carbon Footprint” certifications from TÜV Rheinland, an internationally recognized certification body based in Germany.
This marks the fifth consecutive year that Samsung’s premium Neo QLED 8K and Neo QLED televisions have received these certifications, reinforcing the company’s efforts to lower carbon emissions. "Samsung Electronics is committed to driving technological innovation for a sustainable future. As the world’s leading TV manufacturer, we will continue leading efforts to establish a more energy-efficient ecosystem that benefits consumers," said Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President, Samsung Electronics' Visual Display Business.
In 2024, Samsung secured certifications for 60 models across its Neo QLED, OLED, and Lifestyle TV categories. For 2025, the company has expanded its certification to include QLED televisions and is working toward obtaining certification for its Color E-Paper line later this year.
TÜV Rheinland’s certifications are awarded following a comprehensive lifecycle assessment, covering production, transportation, usage, and disposal in line with international sustainability standards. The “Product Carbon Reduction” certification is granted to products that have already earned the “Product Carbon Footprint” certification and demonstrate a measurable decrease in carbon emissions compared to previous models.
Samsung has been advancing energy-efficient display technology since 2021 when its Neo QLED became the first 4K high-resolution TV to receive the “CO2 Reduction” certification. Since then, the company has expanded its portfolio of environmentally certified products to include QLED, Crystal UHD, OLED, Lifestyle TVs, monitors, and digital signage solutions.
