Siemens Showcases AI Solutions for Smarter, Resilient Power Grids

Siemens showcased industrial AI, electrification, and automation technologies at RVP-AI and ROC&C 2026, highlighting digital grid solutions that improve resilience, efficiency, and sustainability as Mexico expands renewable energy, distributed generation and electrification.

 

Mexico's power grid is entering a new stage of digital transformation as utilities and industrial operators face rising electricity demand, renewable energy integration and increasing system complexity. Against this backdrop, Siemens present its latest portfolio of electrification, automation and industrial artificial intelligence solutions designed to strengthen grid resilience and support the energy transition.

"For more than a century, Siemens has supported the evolution of the electrical sector by contributing technology, innovation and expertise that strengthen Mexico's energy infrastructure," says Patrice Rimond, Director of the Electrification and Automation Business Unit, Siemens Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean.

The company presented these advancements during the International Summer Meeting on Power and Industrial Applications (RVP-AI) and the International Autumn Meeting on Communications, Computing, Electronics, Automation, and Robotics (ROC&C) 2026 in Acapulco, Guerrero. The events brought together representatives from academia, industry and the public sector to discuss innovation across energy, automation, robotics, telecommunications, and power systems.

Digital Technologies to Reshape Power Grid Operations

According to Siemens, electrical networks are confronting unprecedented challenges, such as renewable energy sources, distributed generation, energy storage systems, industrial electrification, and electric mobility continue to expand while electricity consumption keeps increasing. To address these changes, the company presented technologies designed to digitally connect every stage of the energy value chain, from power generation and transmission to distribution networks and end-use facilities. The solutions enable operators to monitor, automate, and protect electrical infrastructure in real time, improving operational efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.

Siemens also demonstrated applications focused on industrial communications, advanced data analytics, cybersecurity, and automation. By combining these capabilities, operators can anticipate operational events, optimize asset performance, increase business continuity and support the decarbonization of critical infrastructure.

"We are demonstrating technologies for the energy sector that help create more resilient and intelligent grids. These innovations allow us to address today's challenges through predictive and preventive approaches. We use data collected over many years through industrial artificial intelligence, enabling better decisions as we move toward autonomous energy networks," says Rimond.

Collaboration Drives Infrastructure Modernization

Beyond the technology showcase, Siemens emphasized that modernizing Mexico's energy infrastructure requires collaboration among governments, private companies, research organizations, and universities. The company says these partnerships are essential to accelerate innovation, strengthen technological capabilities and develop a more flexible electrical system capable of supporting future industrial growth.

Throughout the event, Siemens hosted technology demonstrations, specialized presentations, and conferences illustrating how digital technologies are transforming the generation, transmission, and consumption of electricity. Visitors to the company's exhibition learned about current trends in grid digitalization and automation while exploring applications designed for the national energy sector.

The event also served as a platform for dialogue between industry leaders and government representatives seeking to advance technological development through coordinated initiatives.

Public-Private Partnerships Support Mexico's Energy Transition

Government officials participating in the meetings highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation across the public, private and academic sectors to accelerate innovation and improve national competitiveness.

As part of the event, Anacleta López, Acting Secretary General, Government of Guerrero, met with Siemens and other industry participants to discuss initiatives aimed at reinforcing strategic partnerships while positioning Acapulco as a destination for international technology and engineering events. "The presence of the State Government in this forum strengthens our strategy to position Guerrero as a destination for international events, promote technological innovation as a driver of development, and consolidate partnerships among government, academia, and private industry to accelerate technological progress and foster solutions that contribute to the country's competitiveness and sustainability," says López.

Siemens says its vision is to help build a more digital, flexible, and sustainable electrical system capable of adapting to the evolving demands of Mexico's energy transition. By combining industrial AI, electrification, automation, and collaboration across the public and private sectors, the company aims to support the modernization of critical infrastructure while improving the resilience and efficiency of the country's power networks.
