Striving for Data Maturity: A Differential Capacity
STORY INLINE POST
Q: What are the key elements of Denodo’s commercial proposition and the added-value it creates for clients?
A: Denodo specializes in the integration and management of data. During its over 20 years of experience, the company observed the big data boom and the efforts of many companies to seize it without understanding how to extract its true value. Twenty years ago, big data was essentially a solution in search of a problem but as companies gained better understanding of the subject matter, they came to realize that it better served them to extract business intelligence that could provide them with an added value.
While companies have since improved their capacity to collect data from what can often involve as many as 400 sources, their capacity to digest it remains incipient. Companies often leave over 80 percent of data unanalyzed — a potentially unexploited wealth of business intelligence. Denodo facilitates this business objective by streamlining the integration of data, transforming it into actionable data and making it readily available to decision-makers.
Q: How has Denodo maintained industry leadership over other vendors in the same industry for the past two decades?
A: Our only market competitor is ignorance. Denodo dominates the market space in which we operate given that most companies still rely on data copying for its integration. It is a practice that by definition contests real-time data analysis, a capacity that in the short-term will play an important role in potentializing industry winners.
Consequently, Denodo does not store data. Instead, our clients can reliably access precise intelligence across their digital architecture from their dashboards in real time for the most accurate decision-making. It is a virtualization process that has been consistently refined since 1999, offering clients an ROI potential of more than 400 percent through the reduction of operating costs, fewer development resources and increased productivity, among other benefits. Overall, Denodo is the ideal partner for companies across industries and sizes to augment their data maturity.
Q: How would you assess the maturity of big data business intelligence generation within Mexican businesses?
A: While economically developed nations currently lead in this space, Mexico’s business community is not far behind but can accelerate by addressing three main factors: cloud consolidation, updating consumer data laws and the construction of supporting telecommunications infrastructure.
Mexico is well on its way toward cloud consolidation as a result of accumulated operational and management experience incurred over the last two years of experimentation with cloud computing. This coincides with global macroeconomic expectations that the cloud computing market is expected to continue growing into 2023 despite observable fiscal conservatism. Mexico’s government could support this progression through the amendment of compliance standards regarding the storage of consumer data in cloud computing, which is largely limited. This is something that the EU’s Central Bank itself saw necessary following the observed growth of cloud computing, which has since helped foment the growth and advancement of its respective data market. Finally, the development of telecommunications infrastructure in Mexico is incomplete, with the distribution of internet fiber optics still largely uneven across the country. Nevertheless, it is a commission that eventually will be carried out.
Q: How does Denodo’s “centralized secure layer to catalog, search, discover and govern unified data” impart clients with a natural immunity to cybersecurity risks?
A: The average company must account for the security of at least 20 data depositories across its digital infrastructure — an assignment that grows increasingly complex the larger the enterprise. Denodo serves to access data from all these depositories across a company’s entire digital infrastructure, essentially working as a security blanket that grants access, management and governance through a single point of entry. Denodo effectively simplifies security administration for companies and there are already a handful of companies using Denodo in this capacity.
Q: What market opportunities and incoming trends will Denodo be exploring in Mexico and Latin America in 2023?
A: By 2023, Denodo has the potential to double its installed base, given macroeconomic market indicators are forecasting an accelerated migration toward data virtualization. Therefore, as a market leader in this space, Denodo is uniquely positioned to benefit from these observed market needs.
Denodo is a leader in data virtualization – providing unmatched performance and unified access to a broad range of enterprise, big data, cloud and unstructured sources.
