Average salaries in the tech field are following an upward trend. According to the job search platform CodersLink, workers in the tech sector could earn up to MX$91,000 (USD$5,000).

INEGI data from 2022 shows the average salary for professionals in Mexico averages MX$16,642 (US$993)/month, placing the tech industry among the top 2% of Mexicans who earn higher than the country's minimum wage. Specifically, professionals in the IT industry have a base average salary of MX$30,000 (US$1,666)/month.

CodersLink noted that tech salaries increased by more than 53% in 2022. With an average salary of MX$55,688 (US$3,090) for tech specialists, the company report indicates that an appropriate combination of knowledge, sector, place of residence and work experience can lead to higher earnings. CodersLink says that an proficient English level is an important factor in determining the worker’s salary, since those who have an advanced level earn over 3 times more than those without English knowledge.

Additionally, remote work is gaining ground among Tech sector’s workers as they perceive improvements in their quality of life since working under this scheme. The states of Jalisco, Queretaro, and Mexico City are where the highest paid IT professionals reside,  which work remotely for large companies located in the US. Additionally, over 60% of people are happy with their salaries, except for Nuevo Leon, where over 81% of the surveyed people said they are not satisfied.

According to CodersLink, new roles have become more popular and have a better monthly salary ratio. In contrast to 2022, positions such as Full Stack Developer, Back End Developer and Software Engineer are now the most frequent and in-demand jobs in Mexico, which has led to an improvement in salary outcomes for this year. Full Stack Developers account for over 27.9% of the five most popular IT positions in Mexico, followed by Back End Developers with 22.2%, Software Engineers with 17.4%, Project Managers with 16.8% and Data Analysts with 15.7%.

The report also highlights that employees with a masters degree gain over MX$70,800 (US$3,900), the best salary in the study, followed by those holding specialized studies with MX$61,300 (US$3,400), Ph.D. degree holders with MX$59,800 (US$3,300) and those with high school and junior high school degrees with MX$20,600 (US$1,140) and MX$10,500 (US$582), respectively.
