Danfoss Opens New Plant in Monterrey, Marks 30 Years in Mexico
Danish technology company Danfoss celebrated its 30th anniversary in Mexico with the opening of a new state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Monterrey, underscoring its long-term commitment to innovation, sustainability, and regional growth.
The event brought together Kim Fausing, President and CEO, Danfoss; representatives from the Embassy of Denmark in Mexico; Emmanuel Loo, Nuevo Leon’s Undersecretary of Investment and Innovation; and several global company executives.
Part of the company’s Climate Solutions segment, the new facility will focus on advanced technologies such as compressors, microchannel heat exchangers, condensing units, and sensors designed to improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions.
Over the past four years, Danfoss has invested more than US$100 million in Mexico, strengthening the country’s role as a key hub for the company’s operations across North and Latin America. With more than 3,000 employees in Mexico and 40,000 worldwide, Danfoss highlighted the skill and dedication of its local workforce as a driving force behind its continued expansion.
The new Monterrey plant will boost production capacity, create new job opportunities, and support solutions for air conditioning, refrigeration, and data center efficiency. During the inauguration, Denmark’s ambassador to Mexico emphasized that the project exemplifies how economic growth and environmental responsibility can progress hand in hand.
In other related news, MBN reported that Fibra MTY announced that the recently completed building for Danfoss in Apodaca, Nuevo Leon, has been awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) BD+C: Core and Shell Silver certification by the Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI). This international recognition establishes the facility as a benchmark for energy efficiency and environmental responsibility in Mexico’s industrial real estate sector.
“This certification represents more than a technical milestone; it reflects Fibra MTY’s conviction to build an industrial portfolio that combines profitability, innovation, and environmental responsibility. Sustainability is not a trend but an essential condition for long-term value creation,” says Jorge Ávalos, CEO, Fibra MTY.
The 18,271m² facility will host manufacturing operations for sensor components and compressors for air-conditioning systems, designed with a comprehensive approach to sustainable design and environmental performance. The LEED certification, developed by the US Green Building Council (USGBC), is one of the world’s most demanding standards for sustainable construction.
