Chennai India-based tractor manufacturer Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited (TAFE) opened a new assembly plant in Aguascalientes with a MX$280 million investment (US$15.5 million), expected to create 250 jobs and reinforce the state’s role as a hub for manufacturing and innovation.

The plant, located in Vesta Park, will include production of electric tractors, aligning with Mexico’s push for sustainable mobility and advanced technology.

Governor of Aguascalientes Teresa Jiménez, joined by Esaú Garza, Aguascalientes’ Minister of Economic Development, Science, and Technology, welcomed the investment, highlighting the growing ties between India and Aguascalientes.

“India and Aguascalientes are close and strategic allies,” says Jiménez. “We share strong, dynamic and unstoppable economies.”

The project stems from a state trade mission to India, aimed at establishing bilateral ties  between the two entities.Sandeep Sinha, CEO, TAFE , says that the decision to locate in Aguascalientes was no coincidence. “With 65 years of experience and 14,000 employees worldwide, TAFE manufactures more than 160,000 tractors annually,” Sinha says. “We chose Aguascalientes because of its solid manufacturing ecosystem and strong legal and economic environment.”

Sinha adds that TAFE will collaborate with local suppliers, strengthening commercial ties between Mexico and India.

Aguascalientes has reported a record US$33 billion in exports this year, with goods reaching five continents.
