More than 100 volunteers joined forces to restore over 1,500m2 of walls and facades at the San Bernabé Community Center during a major social activation led by the Nuevo Leon Ministry of Equality and Inclusion, headed by Martha Herrera. The initiative brought together volunteers from Fundación PepsiCo México, Voluntariado Amigos Coppel of Grupo Coppel, and Voluntarios México, who collaborated in a large-scale painting campaign aimed at revitalizing public spaces, fostering community pride, and strengthening civic participation.

The event’s goals included promoting a culture of community engagement, rebuilding the social fabric, and consolidating cross-sector alliances among the public, private, and civil society sectors. The activation also encouraged environmental and social awareness while reinforcing shared responsibility and belonging within the San Bernabé community.

Mauricio Canseco, Deputy Minister of Social Investment and Strategic Alliances, emphasized the importance of collective action. “Alliances like the one we celebrate today with PepsiCo, Coppel and Voluntarios México remind us that equality is built through action. These efforts show how companies, government, and civil society can join forces to transform realities and create sustainable impact.”

“We are already developing a model involving multiple companies. For example, two upcoming technology classrooms are being established with Fundación de Acero and Softech. De Acero handles furniture and climate control for dignified spaces, while Softech provides the computers," said Juan Carlos Meade, Director of Strategic Alliances at Nuevo León´s Ministry of Equality and Inclusion.

Additionally, the Ministry has also partnered with Hyundai Mobis, Banregio, and Ternium, among other companies.

Eduardo Real, Senior Vice President of Sales, PepsiCo México, highlighted the company’s community focus. “At PepsiCo, our community strategy goes beyond operations; it is part of our DNA to contribute to safe, vibrant spaces that foster well-being and community pride. This effort in San Bernabe is a clear example of that commitment.”

These social activities align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 2: Zero Hunger and Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities, reinforcing Nuevo Leon’s commitment to social inclusion and sustainable development.

“Participating in these volunteer efforts reaffirms our commitment to inclusion and the construction of stronger communities. Dignifying community spaces helps plant values of solidarity and belonging that endure over time,” said Paulina Rodríguez, Corporate Social Responsibility Coordinator, Coppel.
