Mexican M&A Market Rises 46% in Value Despite: TTR Data

Mexico’s M&A market posted a 46% jump in total value through July despite a sharp drop in deal volume, according to a report by TTR Data. The country recorded 149 announced and closed transactions worth US$14.58 billion in the first seven months of 2025, down 36% in number but up significantly in value compared to the same period last year.

In July alone, 19 deals were registered with an aggregate value of US$5.75 billion. Software, internet, and IT services were the most active sectors so far this year, with 18 and 15 deals, respectively.

On the cross-border front, Mexican companies favored investments in Argentina, Spain and the United States, with six transactions each. By value, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic led with US$2 billion each. Foreign buyers from the United States and Spain were the most active in acquiring Mexican companies, with 35 and 11 deals, respectively, while Spain topped in value with US$4.41 billion.

Private equity activity fell sharply, with only 10 deals worth US$55 million, representing a 72% drop in number and 94% in value year over year. Venture capital transactions totaled 42, worth US$778 million, down 29% in volume and 20% in value. Asset acquisitions reached 26 deals worth US$2.51 billion, down 46% in volume but up 129% in value.

TTR Data highlighted Mediterranean Shipping Company’s US$800 million purchase of Infraestructura Portuaria Mexicana from PINFRA through Terminal Investment Limited as the month’s standout transaction. Legal law firm Ritch Mueller and FGB Law advised on the deal.

In legal advisory rankings by transaction count, Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza y Enríquez led with 18 deals, followed by Cuatrecasas México with four. By value, FGB Law topped the list with US$1.21 billion, closely followed by Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza y Enríquez with US$1.13 billion.

For financial advisory, 414 Capital – RióN led by transaction count with four deals. BMO Capital Markets, GenCap Mining Advisory and National Bank Financial each led by value with US$2.1 billion.
