Mexico is expanding its trade alliances with Europe and Canada as part of its strategy to strengthen its industrial sector and increase its presence in international markets. As part of this effort, the country inaugurated the Mexico Pavilion at Hannover Messe 2025, the world’s leading industrial trade fair, which runs from March 30 to April 4 in Hannover, Germany.

The Mexico Pavilion is a joint initiative led by the Mexican Association of Ministries of Economic Development (AMSDE), with participation from private companies, state governments, and federal institutions, including the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The objective is to promote economic development and position Mexico as a key player in the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies such as automation, artificial intelligence, and energy efficiency solutions in response to global economic and geopolitical challenges.

Following recent announcements of increased tariffs on imports into the United States in various sectors, Mexico is working to attract new investments and diversify its market access. As part of this approach, Mexico is strengthening its trade relationship with Canada, which is the partner country for this year’s edition of Hannover Messe.

"As a partner country of Hannover Messe 2025, we are ready to establish global partnerships and invite investors to explore our dynamic business environment and diverse talent. This event is a showcase for Canada’s forward-looking technologies and our commitment to global innovation and sustainability," said François-Philippe Champagne, Canada’s Minister of Finance.

Hannover Messe 2025 hosts over 4,000 exhibitors from engineering, electrical, digital, and energy industries, focusing on the theme of "Industrial Transformation." The event provides a platform for Mexico to promote investment opportunities and build strategic partnerships.

State and Industry Representation

Mexico’s delegation includes representatives from the states of Aguascalientes, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Nuevo Leon, Queretaro, Tlaxcala, and Yucatan. Industry groups, such as the National Auto Parts Industry Association (INA) and the National Network of Automotive Clusters, are also participating, alongside government officials and private sector representatives.

"The Ministry of Economy is a key ally for trade facilitation. Our goal with Plan Mexico is to drive regional development and position the country among the world’s Top 10 economies. We aim to be not just consumers but leading producers, with the relaunch of the 'Made in Mexico' program," said Jesús Valdés, Head of Economic Promotion Abroad, Ministry of Economy.

Durango Governor Esteban Villegas Villarreal highlighted his state’s industrial growth, citing its access to water, energy, and skilled labor. "Mexico is at one of its best moments if we all do our part. What is made in Mexico is well made, and we are moving forward," he said.

Aguascalientes Governor María Teresa Jiménez Esquivel emphasized the presence of German multinational companies such as Mercedes-Benz, Bosch, and Continental in her state. "Aguascalientes competes globally. We must keep up with new technologies and education to prepare our young people for this competition," she said.

Through its participation in Hannover Messe 2025, Mexico seeks to strengthen its role as a strategic investment destination, enhance its global trade partnerships, and improve the competitiveness of its industrial sector.

"Mexico must participate in international events, and what better platform than the world’s most important industrial fair? Companies and states are the best examples of what Mexico has to offer," said Marco Antonio Del Petre, Ministry of Sustainable Development, Queretaro, and President of AMSDE.
