Oaxaca Launches Investment Promotion Committee
In an effort to attract a major number of projects and funding, the government of Oaxaca has established an Investment Promotion Committee aimed at attracting strategic investments, strengthening local supply chains and positioning the state as a rising economic hub in Mexico. This initiative is spearheaded by Governor Salomón Jara through the state’s Ministry of Economic Development (SEDECO) and seeks to advance import substitution, expand national content and promote growth in sectors such as steel, textiles and pharmaceuticals.
The committee has plans to support federal projects including the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec (CIIT), the national electromobility agenda, and the Well-Being Development Poles, all part of President Claudia Sheinbaum's Plan México.
“This council is not just a dialogue table; it is where trust translates into results. Oaxaca is culture and identity, but also fertile ground for business and economic growth. Now is the time to bet on Oaxaca,” said SEDECO’s chief Raúl Ruiz Robles.
Andrea Solano, Head of the Normativity, Competitiveness and Competition Unit, Ministry of Economy, highlighted Oaxaca’s competitive advantages as a driver of development in southern Mexico through the CIIT. She also stressed the importance of strengthening local producers as the foundation of a strong, identity-based economy.
The committee includes federal, state and municipal authorities, along with representatives from the private sector and academia. The group plans to meet regularly, issue annual reports and remain active until September 2030, while maintaining ties with business chambers, universities, international organizations, and other stakeholders.
Oaxaca Ranks Third in Hecho en México Certifications
In related news, Oaxaca places third in the country with the highest number of Hecho en México certifications, after receiving 95 new recognitions for local producers. The achievement reflects the quality, talent, and authenticity of Oaxaca’s artisans and industries.
“These certifications open new opportunities for commercialization and project Oaxaca as a national benchmark of identity and excellence,” Ruiz Robles said.
The initiative builds on the local Hecho en Oaxaca brand, which promotes producers, boosts the economy and strengthens the state’s position under Plan México. The brand guarantees the originality and competitiveness of Oaxacan products at the national and international levels.
The certifications were presented by Ruiz Robles and Solano Rendón, with support from Carlos Alfonso Candelaria López, coordinator of the Well-Being Corridors, and Emilio de Gyves, Ministry of Economy Representative in Oaxaca.
The administration of Jara Cruz, known as Gobierno de la Primavera Oaxaqueña (Government of the Oaxacan Spring), has prioritized social and economic development, with a focus on competitiveness and pride in products made in Oaxaca and across Mexico.
