Puebla has been selected to host Tianguis Turístico México 2027, the country’s premier tourism event, following a rigorous and transparent selection process. The decision highlights Puebla’s strong infrastructure, connectivity, and diverse tourism offerings, positioning it as one of Mexico’s most competitive destinations.

Josefina Rodríguez, Minister of Tourism, announced the unanimous decision of the selection committee after evaluating proposals from five states: Mexico City, Guanajuato, Nuevo Leon, Puebla, and Veracruz.

“After a detailed technical and documented analysis, we concluded unanimously that the winner for Tianguis Turístico 2027 will be the state of Puebla. Get ready to welcome representatives from all 32 states and delegations from more than 45 countries,” Rodríguez said.

Puebla stood out for its hotel and tourism offerings, transportation infrastructure, and the local government’s commitments to support the event. The evaluation criteria included air and ground connectivity, hotel capacity, tourism services, and complementary state-level support.

With this designation, Puebla is preparing to become a hub for national and international tourism in 2027, hosting delegates from across Mexico and the globe. The announcement was made in the presence of key figures from public and private tourism sectors, including the Mexico’s Ministries of Tourism Association (ASETUR), the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Concanaco Servytur), the National Tourism Business Council (CNET), and the Mexican Association of Hotels and Motels (AMHM).

The selection reinforces Puebla’s status as a top-tier tourist destination, known for its rich cultural heritage, culinary scene, connectivity, and infrastructure capable of hosting large-scale events.

Acapulco to Host Tianguis Turístico 2026

Acapulco will host the 50th edition of Tianguis Turístico México from April 27 to 30, 2026. The announcement marks a historic milestone in the revitalization of this iconic coastal destination.

“Acapulco is ready to welcome the largest celebration of tourism. It will be a turning point to showcase a renewed and resilient destination to the world,” Rodríguez Zamora said.

The federal program Acapulco se Transforma Contigo (Acapulco Transforms With You) has invested over MX$15 billion in rebuilding tourism, urban, and social infrastructure. During Easter 2025, Acapulco achieved an average hotel occupancy rate of 95.2% and generated more than MX$4 billion in economic activity.
