Taiwan-based manufacturer Taigene México will invest US$33.4 million to expand its operations in the Colinas de León I Industrial Park, strengthening the city’s role as an industrial hub in central Mexico. The project includes the construction of a 6,600m2 facility and the creation of 146 new jobs, local officials confirmed. Mayor Alejandra Gutiérrez said the continued growth of international companies in Leon reflects the municipality’s position as a competitive and reliable destination for investment.

“When companies choose to expand here, it means more development and more opportunities for our community,” Gutiérrez said.

The expansion was confirmed during a meeting in Taoyuan, Taiwan, attended by Luz Ángel Minguela, Leon’s Director of Investment Attraction, representing the municipal government and the Ministry for Economic Reactivation. During the visit, Taigene’s leadership reaffirmed its commitment to expanding within the Colinas de León I industrial zone.

The new facility will boost production of electric motors used in automotive systems such as power steering, windshield wipers, fans, seats, air pumps, and air-conditioning units.

Representatives from Grupo Copachisa, the company in charge of developing and building the new site, and Citius AG were part of the Leon delegation. The group was received by Stacey Chung, Director General, Taigene’s corporate headquarters, who reiterated the company’s long-term plans in Mexico.

Taigene has become a strategic partner in León’s economic diversification, contributing technology, specialized jobs and added value to the regional supply chain. Municipal officials said they will continue supporting the project by streamlining administrative processes and strengthening links with the automotive and manufacturing industries.

Investments Coming to the Country

MBN reported that Taiwanese automotive supplier HCMF inaugurated a new manufacturing plant in Parque Industrial Santa María in Coahuila, representing a US$16 million (MX$328 million) investment to produce sunroofs and sliding roofs for the North American market. The project is expected to generate both direct and indirect employment while strengthening the local automotive supply chain.

The inauguration featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, the symbolic signing of a sunroof, and a tour of the facilities. Following the public event, HCMF executives met privately with state authorities to discuss initiatives to further develop Coahuila’s automotive manufacturing sector.

Officials attending the inauguration included Coahuila Governor Manolo Jiménez, Ramos Arizpe Mayor Tomás Gutiérrez, State Minister of Economy Luis Olivares, State Congress Government Board President Luz Morales, Minister of Labor Nazira Zogbi, and HCMF North America President Jeffrey Hsi, among other executives.

“The opening in Coahuila allows us to meet growing market needs in North America while reinforcing our international presence,” Hsi said.

State officials highlighted the project’s potential to generate jobs and consolidate foreign investment confidence. “This initiative strengthens our region’s automotive sector and positions Coahuila as a competitive hub for international manufacturers,” Jiménez said.

The private meeting between company executives and state authorities focused on collaborative projects to expand manufacturing capabilities and create additional business opportunities for local suppliers, reinforcing Coahuila’s role as a leading destination for automotive investment.
