Aeroméxico Announces Four New Domestic Routes From AICM

Mexico’s flagship airline, Aeroméxico strengthens its connectivity with four new domestic flights from Mexico City International Airport (AICM), which it will launch in March 2023. The airline also aims to expand both its domestic international routes after issuing its final Chapter 11 exercise in 2022. 

Aeroméxico’s new domestic routes will connect Mexico City with: Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas; Colima, Colima; Cozumel, Quintana Roo; and Tepic, Nayarit. The airline will operate 106 routes in 2023, of which 59 are domestic and 47 international. Aeroméxico says it is committed to “offer the highest domestic and international connectivity,” which led it to open its newest routes. The Ciudad Victoria route will begin service on March 27, 2023, and the other three on March 26, 2023.

Aeroméxico reported continuous growth during 2022, incorporating 20 new aircraft and 13 new routes. The airline has focused on strengthening its hubs in Monterrey and Guadalajara, which are relevant connectivity centers. Through the expansion in both cities, the airline increased its domestic capacity by over 25%, while surpassing its pre-pandemic passenger traffic by transporting 22 million passengers.

The routes to Colima, Nayarit, Quintana Roo and Tamaulipas are expected to contribute to economic and tourism development. Aeroméxico has also worked to bringing travelers and cargo closer to key destinations, arguing that it provides the best fleet, the best service and the highest security standards in the industry.

Aeroméxico recently concluded its Chapter 11 procedures after initiating the process at the US Bankruptcy Court, from the Southern District of New York in 2020. The airline provided its final agreement and concluded the lengthy exercise in 2022, as reported by MBN.
