Guanajuato has generated over US$4 billion of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), with 10 percent corresponding to the aeronautical sector, highlighted Diego Sinhué Rodríguez, Governor of Guanajuato, during the inauguration of BJX Aerospace Summit 4.0. Rodríguez also explained that the state supports Mexican companies such as the local Horizontec, which recently finished the development of the Halcón 2 aircraft.

The investment has been in part thanks to the state’s FDI promotion fairs, with which it continues to promote the growth of local industries and sustainable development. “Next year I hope to go to FAMEX, which will take place in April, and also to the Aerospace Fair in Paris, to continue supporting this great industry,” said Sinhué.

BJX Aerospace Summit 4.0 is celebrating its second edition between Oct. 5 and 7, 2022. “The Aerospace Summit 4.0 is an initiative of the Aerospace Cluster of Bajío A.C. (bjxaerospace) with the aim of presenting the challenges, opportunities and trends of the aerospace and aeronautical sector in terms of industry 4.0, such as: Drones, Computer Aided Design and Simulation, Additive manufacturing, Internet of things, etc. Through workshops, conferences, exhibition areas and business meetings,” reads the Summit’s website.

During the inauguration of the BJX Aerospace Summit, Alejandra Gutiérrez, Municipal President of Leon, explained that manufacturing, digitization and technological innovation are vital factors that can radically improve the quality of life for the state’s population. Wolfgang Dold, Germany’s Ambassador to Mexico, highlighted the importance of Mexico to Germany, as its proximity to the North American market is attractive to the European country.

Guanajuato recently held the third edition of Solar Power Mexico and the first edition of Ecomondo Mexico. The state government highlighted the importance of promoting sustainability in Guanajuato, which is why they decided to “create a diversifying and energy-efficiency program, which consists of three main pillars: safety, energy sustainability and competitivity,” as reported by MBN.
