FEMSA Partners With INE to Promote Informed Voting

FEMSA and OXXO have entered a collaboration agreement with INE to foster informed voting and citizen participation across Mexico. During the signing ceremony, INE's President Councilor, Guadalupe Taddei, urged citizens to vote, emphasizing the importance of a correct, peaceful, and orderly electoral process, which she stated is what Mexico deserves and what the institute is committed to delivering.

This collaboration aligns with INE's mission to enhance democratic life, ensure citizens exercise of their political-electoral rights, monitor compliance, safeguard the authenticity and effectiveness of votes, promote voting, contribute to civic education and democratic culture, and ensure gender parity and respect for women's human rights in the political and electoral spheres.

Taddei underscored the significance of democratic processes in renewing authorities peacefully. She highlighted the commitment of INE, FEMSA, and OXXO in signing the agreement, expressing pride in providing high-quality and legally consistent services to Mexico.

Roberto Campa, Director of Corporate Affairs, FEMSA, noted that through this collaboration, OXXO will make approximately 22,000 stores, visited by around 14 million people daily, available to INE for electoral materials dissemination and polling station setup. Campa also mentioned the creation of a civic manual by FEMSA to ensure the voting rights of its more than 28,000 employees.

The alliance between FEMSA, OXXO, and INE will focus on activities promoting democratic culture and civic education to encourage informed voting. Key initiatives include providing INE with space in stores for printed and digital materials to promote voting and citizens' rights, promoting informed electoral participation among employees, and implementing initiatives to encourage citizen participation during electoral processes, all in compliance with current legislation.

OXXO will also actively participate on election day by offering a complimentary medium-sized Americano coffee to individuals who visit the store with their marked fingers after voting. Further details of the campaign will be announced later.
