Tango Solar Makes Billionaire Investment in Green Hydrogen Plant

Tango Solar's investment of US$1.75 billion in Sinaloa for green hydrogen production signals a significant move toward sustainable energy in Mexico. The project, Tango Solar North, will include a photovoltaic solar park and a hydrogen generation plant, with an estimated production capacity of 41,485t of green hydrogen annually. With potential applications in various sectors, including transportation and industry, this initiative is poised to bolster Mexico's environmental objectives while contributing to the region's social and economic development, aligning with PEMEX's projections and Mexico's broader energy transition goals.

Heineken Mexico to Empower Female Environmental Leaders

Heineken Mexico introduced Water and Climate Cultivators for a Better World, an initiative dedicated to empowering female leadership in environmental conservation. Elena Montes de Oca, Sustainability and Circular Economy Director, Heineken, underscored the program's alignment with the company’s sustainability goals and collaboration with Fundación Azteca and GIZ to advance female leadership in sustainability. The initiative invites women to submit projects focusing on water conservation, biodiversity, and climate change mitigation, offering winners technical support, mentorship, equipment, and funding over a two-year period to drive impactful environmental initiatives and promote female leadership in tackling pressing environmental issues.

Samsung Advances Sustainability Efforts on Global Recycling Day

Samsung continues its commitment to sustainability by emphasizing recycling in its products. Additional efforts extend to packaging, with Eco-Packaging reducing ink usage and incorporating materials like paper tape, while products like the SolarCell Remote Control contain 24% recycled material and offer rechargeability via solar or indoor lighting, potentially preventing millions of batteries from entering the environment. Samsung plans to incorporate more recycled materials across its product range, including recycled plastic from fishing nets, and will implement AI to optimize energy usage, aiming to integrate sustainability efforts throughout the supply chain and encourage user participation in recycling programs through initiatives like EcoRenew.

SEDEMA Issued 617 Sanctions During the Atmospheric Environmental Contingency 

SEDEMA reported issuing 617 penalties to vehicles for not complying with the Hoy No Circula Environmental Program. Penalties were imposed following the declaration of Phase I of Atmospheric Environmental Contingency by the Megalopolis Environmental Commission (CAMe) due to ozone in the Metropolitan Area of the Valley of Mexico. Of the 613 drivers penalized, four received double penalties for circulating on restricted days and being notably polluting vehicles, with penalties applied to vehicles from various locations, including Mexico City, the State of Mexico, and other entities, as well as one foreign license plate.
