Under the slogan of "let's design the future of health services together," the Mexican Hospital Consortium (CMH) announced two significant steps that aim to boost and strengthen digitalization in this guild.

The first announcement was about its integration into the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), a US not-for-profit organization that aims to improve healthcare in quality, safety, cost-effectiveness and access through the best use of technology and management systems. “This step is part of our strategy towards the formation of a private national health ecosystem powered by digital solutions,” said the CMH in a LinkedIn post. As part of HIMSS, CMH created the Digital Innovations and Solutions Cluster for the development of its associated hospitals, allowing them to make the most out of the new opportunities the consortium is attracting.

The second announcement is CMH’s alliance with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to “jointly design new health care models based on technological platforms that will allow us to improve the patient experience, provide greater accessibility, improve operation, quality and safety in hospitals and have information that will allow us to develop new schemes and more effective care,” said Javier Potes, Director General, CMH.

AWS will support CMH’s novel healthtech projects such as the implementation and development of the CMH Home Hospital for post-hospital care, which is set to start in August 2022 according to El Economista. Through this service, CMH hospitals will offer post-hospital care to facilitate the transition of patients from the hospital to their home. CMH is also launching the Salud Primero and Salud Contigo programs for primary care attention and chronic diseases follow-ups, respectively.

“This is the first alliance of its kind to promote digital transformation in the health sector, with an approach that goes beyond technology as it includes the analysis of opportunities with new operating and business models to really put the patient in the center,” said Potes to Hospital sin Infecciones.

The alliance with AWS aims to develop and implement six lines of action for the implementation and development of solutions that boost new digital care models, while generating education programs and promoting the exchange of information among CMH hospitals to generate a health ecosystem.
