Experts say that in the current business environment, companies’ success, agility and adaptability rely on their ability to secure top-tier talent. Talent management emerges as a critical factor in upholding the organization's attractiveness and retaining the industry's finest professionals.

The adoption of OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) is increasingly recognized as a critical element in enhancing the focus, strategic alignment and overall effectiveness of talent management within the knowledge economy. By implementing OKRs, talent managers gain access to a well-defined framework that promotes clarity and transparency, facilitating streamlined operations. "To ensure the productive commitment of employees, it is crucial for HR and Talent departments to have a comprehensive understanding of the organization's strategy to ensure its long-term sustainability,” says Jaime Zapata, Human Resources Director, Interjet,

According to industry reports, leading companies like Google, Microsoft, Linkedin, Adobe and Amazon have embraced the use of OKRs. Jeff Weiner, former CEO, LinkedIn, affirms the company's reliance on OKRs. "We utilize OKRs to create a sense of urgency and prioritize what truly matters in the current context or quarter,” he says.

Weiner highlights how this goal-setting framework facilitates efficient and effective meetings, where the focus is placed on reviewing the progress of everyone's objectives. “OKRs help to generate metrics, which are crucial for companies. At the moment, data shows that quality and retention of talent are taking strong precedence over other HR-related trends,” said Juliana Félix, Regional Account Executive LATAM, Linkedin, during Mexico Talent Forum 2023.

Moreover, OKRs can cultivate a strong sense of ownership within teams, leading to a more united, synchronized and motivated workforce. This approach nurtures a collaborative atmosphere wherein every team member comprehends their role in accomplishing shared goals. Consequently, promoting a cohesive and driven environment.

“It is crucial to avoid imposing limitations or seeking candidates who fit a predetermined mold. Instead, cultivating an environment that nurtures creativity and respects the distinctive qualities of each person is more advantageous. By embracing this approach, organizations can unlock the full potential of their talent, promote innovation and achieve remarkable results through the effective use of OKRs,” says Manuela Velez, Head of People, Independent.
