Q: How is Dell empowering businesses through technology and how does it remain ahead of the competition as more technological solutions are developed?

A: Dell Technologies’ purpose is to be the world’s essential infrastructure company and several of our markets are accelerating, such as government, healthcare, and education. Since the pandemic started, IT and digital transformations have been expanding the way we work, do business, and provide services. With all these factors in mind, we must keep playing a relevant role for our customers and the digital transformation journey. We do so in four main ways.

The first is data center modernization. The operation of data centers now occurs in a multicloud world. Many organizations have two or three public or private types of cloud and are also managing complex environments in which they need help. By providing a flexible, agile, and scalable environment, we have been able to help dynamically address their needs. The second is the transformation of the workforce, as hybrid work has become a reality. No matter where people are, the most important factor for companies and employees is to feel secure and connected, while being highly productive. We are focusing on how to backup all those remote workers and attend their needs, which may seem “new” within the current world context.

The third is cybersecurity, which remains as a key priority. Companies continue to face cyber threatens. While this issue is present in the entire world, Mexico is one of the most affected countries by this matter. Cybersecurity presents an enormous opportunity for companies like Dell Technologies to back up other enterprises, and we know the best way to approach it is to understand and handle it properly.

Finally, we launched Dell APEX almost two years ago to cater to those three areas. Dell APEX provides an As-a-Service infrastructure subscription based on the customer’s demands, needs and requirements. Rather than investing in big platforms or making agreements with certain providers that lock up any new possibilities, we saw the world is entering into and ever-changing environment and therefore we are providing a new portfolio of solution to face it.

Q: How prepared are customers for the digital transformation?

A: Customers are ready for IT. The feedback we have gotten from CFOs, CIOs and IT directors has been positive. IT is driving the way we interact, work, and transact, it is becoming increasingly relevant to strengthen interactions with customers as IT incorporates more tools, infrastructure, and resources. We are not changing the products; we are changing how IT is done.

In the upcoming years, most data and transactions will be processed in the Edge, closer to the source of the data to improve the response time, we need data to be processed right next to where the user is. However, it is easier said than done. Changing a whole work process into this new scheme is very complex, so part of our proposal is to make sure our customers are not held back by those issues so they can reach their full potential.

Q: How are you approaching security issues and how are companies gradually adopting a more active cybersecurity stance?

A: First, we provide our consultancy service in Mexico, through which we study and assess our customer’s environment to evaluate their operations and provide solutions. We also have great alliances with channels that help us further complement our services. With their expertise, we can provide an even more complete solution.

Cybersecurity requires a broad and holistic approach because it cannot be addressed just through tools or firewalls. It requires comprehensive solutions and education must be the first step. Companies are not putting the necessary emphasis on awareness education; they are failing to show their employees the right approach to keep the company safe. This can be the element that cancels out all other efforts.

Q: How can companies better use emerging technologies in their business models if they want to innovate within their own sector and generate a new differentiator?

A: Emerging technologies are mainly based on data and offering them in an As-a-Service format will give companies more opportunities. Dell Technologies is helping to make tools like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Cloud become a more integral part of our lives. We have not reached the full potential of these tools; we are still referring to them as emerging technologies, but we are getting there. The possibilities for management, speed and processing that these technologies offer is lifechanging. Combining these technologies and trends sets up an almost utopian future for our day-to-day lives and for many sectors, such as the medical industry.

Q: Technological tools can bring possibilities for development, but many do not have access to them. How can this problem be addressed?

A: We are developing a more digitalized world, working not only with companies but also with universities and governments. We believe that not only the governments are responsible for digital transformations; it requires interactions from all stakeholders. Everybody brings something to the table and by joining forces, we are more likely to see real change and progress than if we just wait for someone else to do it. We are also working with entrepreneurs to have a say in the future of the digital world. Last, but not least, we are promoting STEM careers and services.

Q: How is Dell Technologies Mexico planning to face the remainder of 2023 and beyond?

A: We are focusing on three areas: the business, the process, and the people. From a business perspective, we know we have a big responsibility because we work with large enterprises, helping them build the world of the future. We are also focusing on SMBs because they are the key to having a greater impact on our initiatives and vision. We aim to boost their operations and help them grow. We also have Dell APEX, which boosts the value of cloud economics across the entire IT environment, from data center to Edge to cloud, with As-a-Service technology offered through Dell Financial Services (DFS), with which we are providing the flexibility, agility and scalability businesses demand for their digital transformation, thus aligning IT investments with business outcomes.

When it comes to people, we are working to fine-tune their processes. For example, we are opening e-Sports arenas with universities to allow students to understand what is behind games and programs, while also allowing them to develop soft skills by competing. Additionally, we are focusing on improving through sustainability, inclusivity, diversity, and an ethical work environment. Regarding sustainability, we are making energy-saving products and solutions and using components or systems to improve the circular economy.

Finally, process-wise, we focus on how we want to interact with companies through online processes. The way we interact with people and consultants and share best practices is becoming more digitalized.
