The Mexico City International Airport (AICM) and the Ministry of Citizen Security of Mexico City (SSC-CDMX) have signed an agreement to enhance security at the airport and its surrounding areas. The agreement was formalized by SSC-CDMX Chief Pablo Vázquez and AICM Director General Juan Padilla.

Under the agreement, both institutions will share videos, images, and data on individuals or vehicles linked to criminal groups. This information will help identify, monitor, locate, and apprehend suspects who exploit the airport’s open-access areas to target potential victims.

The agreement also outlines procedures for investigating criminal acts occurring inside airport terminals or nearby areas, as well as incidents in other locations within Mexico City or neighboring federal entities, if linked to airport-related criminal activity. Authorities will also track individuals and vehicles suspected of engaging in illegal activity connected to airport operations or services.

“The collaboration enables coordinated intelligence gathering and information sharing, which is critical for preventing and responding to crimes at the airport and its vicinity,” SSC-CDMX and AICM said in a joint statement.

Attending the signing were Chief Commissioner Hermenegildo Lugo, Undersecretary of Intelligence and Police Investigation, and Elpidio De La Cruz, Undersecretary of Police Operations for SSC-CDMX; and Alejandra Mendieta, Corporate Legal Director, and Rear Admiral Juan Hernández, Deputy Director of Security, for AICM.

Formally called the Convenio de Concertación, the agreement establishes a framework for ongoing monitoring of criminal activity linked to airport operations.
