The merger of three airport management entities—Mexico City International Airport (AICM), Grupo Aeroportuario de la Ciudad de México (GACM), and Servicios Aeroportuarios de la Ciudad de México (SACM)—has resulted in the creation of a new organization: Grupo Aeroportuario Marina (GAM). The new entity will serve as the legal and operational successor to AICM, which acts as the absorbing organization.

GAM will manage a group of Mexican airports, including the international airports of Ciudad del Carmen, Ciudad Obregon, Guaymas, Loreto, Matamoros, and Benito Juárez International Airport in Mexico City. The Colima National Airport also falls under its jurisdiction. In addition, GAM will oversee equity participation in the international airports of Toluca and Cuernavaca and maintain technical, financial, and operational collaboration with the international airport of San Felipe and the national airport of Lázaro Cárdenas.

In an official statement, GAM confirmed that additional airports across Mexico will be gradually integrated into its network.

Grupo Aeroportuario Marina will continue to honor all existing financial commitments backed by revenue from the Airport Use Fee (TUA) collected at Benito Juárez International Airport. These funds support the repayment of four international bond series issued under the Mexico City Airport Trust (MEXCAT).

“The merger aims to improve the provision of goods and services, optimize resource use by eliminating organizational redundancies, enhance operations and processes, and increase profitability, security, and air connectivity across the country for the benefit of users,” the group stated.

As the commercial and operational successor to AICM, GAM inherits all rights and obligations previously managed by GACM and SACM, making it the primary operator of Mexico City’s airport and its associated infrastructure.

“Our mission is to provide users with services that meet high standards of safety and quality, with a focus on sustainability and competitiveness that contributes to social well-being, economic development, and global connectivity,” the statement read.

The group also outlined the merger’s operational goals, which include enhancing efficiency and aligning resources with strategic objectives. “We will continue working with empathy, respect, dedication, and professionalism to achieve excellence and position ourselves as one of the leading airport operators in Mexico and Latin America,” the statement added.
