The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER) and the government of Veracruz, joined forces to enhance agricultural productivity, supply, and access to quality food. The partnership was formalized through the signing of a Technical Execution Annex to Foster Sustainability and Climate Change Resilience in the state, published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF).

Through this public policy instrument, SADER will facilitate the exchange of technical and scientific information, foster alliances with local stakeholders, monitor progress, and provide training materials for producers, technicians, and local officials. Meanwhile, the local government will contribute human, financial, and infrastructural resources, integrate its agricultural research and technology transfer centers, and promote the benefits of sustainable practices to raise awareness among producers.

Specific actions will include establishing pollinator gardens and orchards, conserving genetic resources for food and agriculture, improving species genetics, and training technicians and students on integrating biodiversity and ecosystem services into agrarian landscape development planning. Moreover, soil conservation initiatives encompass developing indicators for soil quality and health, soil re-carbonization, efficient water use technologies, practices to enhance moisture retention, and reducing the use of fire in agricultural activities through programs like "Soil Doctors."

These actions will contribute to the fulfillment of the goals of the Agriculture and Rural Development Sector Program 2020-2024, the policies for sustainable rural development in the state of Veracruz, and Mexico's international commitments and treaties.
