Light vehicle sales in Mexico grew 5.99% in October 2025 compared with the same month a year earlier, reaching 129,736 units. This is the highest monthly total so far this year, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI). The report, part of the Administrative Registry of the Light Vehicle Automotive Industry (RAIAVL), reflects continued momentum in domestic demand following a slower first half of the year.
Nissan led the market with 22,701 units sold, followed by General Motors with 16,336, Volkswagen with 12,270, Toyota with 11,977, Kia with 9,431, and Mazda with 9,282. These six automakers accounted for 63.2% of total national sales, equivalent to 81,997 vehicles.
Cumulative sales from January through October reached 1,204,923 units, representing a slight 0.11% year-over-year increase. While the growth rate was modest compared to gains of 24.83% in 2023 and 10.36% in 2024, the volume remains 13.39% higher than pre-pandemic levels, showing steady recovery in the domestic market.
According to the Mexican Association of Automotive Distributors (AMDA), sales also rose by 10.7% month-over-month, equivalent to 12,555 more vehicles sold compared with September. The association says that October marked the best monthly performance in nine months, continuing an upward trend that began in September.
AMDA attributed the increase to sustained consumer demand and improved supply chain stability. It also highlighted that internal sales data are collected from 22 companies affiliated with the Mexican Automotive Industry Association (AMIA) and six non-affiliated firms, representing 39 brands that manufacture or sell vehicles in Mexico.
