Renault to Expand Hybrid Lineup in Mexico After 13% Sales Drop
Renault is set to expand its hybrid vehicle lineup in Mexico following a 13.4% drop in Mexican sales during 1Q25. The French automaker aims to strengthen its presence in the Latin American market, leveraging the success of its hybrid models in Europe.
Iván Segal, Global Director of Sales and Operations, stated that tariffs have had minimal impact on exports. As a result, Renault will introduce two new models in Mexico: the hybrid Koleos SUV and the electric Mégane E-Tech.
Jesús Gallo, General Director, Renault Mexico, told El Economista that the Koleos is manufactured in South Korea. The vehicle is a product of Renault’s collaboration with Geely, which contributed to its design.
During a tour across Latin America, Segal highlighted Mexico’s appeal, citing limited competition and the availability of high-tech, competitively priced vehicles. He also noted that Renault achieved growth in 1Q25 and is currently the third-largest automaker in Europe.
According to INEGI, Renault’s 13.4% sales decline in Mexico during 1Q25 reflects market challenges.
