Cybercrime in Mexico could generate more profits than drug trafficking due to its operational ease and profitability, according to an analysis by SILIKN's research unit.

Zimperium Identifies Mobile Malware Campaign Targeting Banking Apps 

US-based mobile security company Zimperium's zLabs uncovered details about the Gigabud malware campaign, revealing its connection to the notorious Spynote Android RAT. The company said this coordinated global campaign uses phishing websites to distribute malicious apps targeting financial institutions. Gigabud manipulates users into granting sensitive permissions, leading to fraudulent transactions, while Spynote enables full control of infected devices. 

SRE and UDLAP Host International Dialogue on Inclusive Cybersecurity 

The Foreign Ministry’s (SRE) Directorate General for Human Rights and Democracy, in collaboration with Universidad de las Americas Puebla’s (UDLAP) Department of International Relations and Political Science, hosted a dialog focused on cybersecurity threats affecting women and youth. SRE views these discussions as a demonstration of Mexico’s dedication to examining how AI and digital technologies influence the safety and well-being of various groups.

McAfee Finds Android SpyAgent Stealing Crypto Via Image Recognition

McAfee’s Mobile Research Team has discovered a new mobile malware that scans images on devices to find mnemonic keys. The company advises users to exercise caution when installing apps and granting permissions and to ensure they have robust cybersecurity measures in place.
