Mexican department store Coppel reported that its online sales increased by 27.7 percent during the ninth edition of Hot Sale, compared with 2021’s event, informed the company.

“We have seen the brand evolve according to the needs of our customers, always putting them at the center of our efforts. For this reason, in times such as the Hot Sale, we seek to offer a range of products and discounts so Mexican families can improve their lives by accessing those products,” said Bernardo Bazúa, Director Omnichannel and Digital Strategy, Coppel.

Coppel offered discounts of up to 60 percent for products in over 40 categories, including white goods, footwear, clothing, technology and bicycles, among others. The home and furniture category was the most popular during Hot Sale 2022 and had a 30 percent increase in sales compared to last year. The transportation and mobility segment saw an increase of 80 percent, while fashion had an increase of 12 percent compared with 2021.

The company reported that 91 percent of purchases were made by clients that did not participate in last year’s Coppel Hot Sale. On the other hand, users that made an online purchase for the first time at Coppel represented 42 percent of total sales.

Logistics, supplies and last-mile delivery are some of the most common challenges to succeed in the e-commerce world. Coppel works constantly to ensure products availability and provide a range of delivery options and payment methods that meet the needs of its customers, said Mariana Mendoza, Head of e-Commerce, Marketplace and Financial Services, Coppel: “Coppel’s omnichannel strategy includes one of the most powerful supply and logistics chains in Latin America, which is made up of 23 distribution centers and its own fleet of 1,927 units.”

During Hot Sale 2022, Coppel delivered 95 percent of the products within the three first days after purchase, said the company. The cities where Coppel registered more online sales were Puebla, Culiacan and Mexico City.

The 2022 edition of Hot Sale took place from May 23-31, 2022, attracting millions of users to shop online. The initiative was introduced in 2014 by the Mexican Association of Online Sales (AMVO) to foster e-commerce in Mexico through several discounts and promotions at affiliated businesses
