FEMSA celebrated its inaugural inclusion in the S&P Global’s Sustainability Yearbook. This annual recognition highlights companies advancing sustainability in international industries, serving as a guide for global investors and enhancing stakeholder confidence.

Victor Treviño, Director of Energy and Sustainability, FEMSA, expressed gratitude, stating that the inclusion in the S&P Global’s Sustainability Yearbook is an honor and a testament to the company’s ongoing commitment to generating social and economic value. “Sustainability is integral to our business strategy, guiding us to positively transform the communities we serve," he said.

Coca-Cola FEMSA also joined the Yearbook for the fourth consecutive year, and sixth time overall, earning high scores in different categories. The bottler managed to reduce water consumption to 1.46L per liter of beverage produced, positioning itself as a sector benchmark. "Our sixth inclusion in S&P's Sustainability Yearbook confirms our journey towards a sustainable future. Being part of this group reinforces our commitment to positively impact the communities we operate in and our extensive value chain," Ian Craig, CEO, Coca-Cola FEMSA, underscored.

Among the 13 beverage industry companies featured in the 2024 Yearbook, only three are Mexican, including FEMSA and Coca-Cola FEMSA. These companies scored well based on data from S&P's Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA). In 2023, S&P Global evaluated sustainability performance across 9,400 companies in 62 industries worldwide, with 759 companies making it into the S&P Global’s Sustainability Yearbook.

FEMSA excelled with scores above 90 in Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy, Waste, Business Ethics, and Water. Notably, it achieved the highest score in Waste due to its advanced waste management practices. Meanwhile, Coca-Cola FEMSA demonstrated strong performance, particularly in Circular Economy, Emissions, Water, and Health and Nutrition. Aligned with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, the company has undertaken sustainability efforts, including the construction of the PLANETA food-grade recycling plant in Tabasco.

Both FEMSA and Coca-Cola FEMSA are actively working toward a sustainable future. Public commitments include FEMSA's goal to use 85% renewable electricity by 2030 and divert 100% of operational waste from landfills. Coca-Cola FEMSA aims for a 50% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 20% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by 2030, compared to 2015 levels.
