Schneider Electric is one of the main companies attempting to lead a digital transformation through Electricity 4.0, a concept focused on decarbonization with which the company attempts to merge electricity and digital benefits.

Climate change is a challenge that concerns everyone, which is why companies are betting on the marketability and serviceability of efficient, safe and sustainable solutions. Consistent changes toward a more sustainable economy are considered to be vital to maintaining the riches of the planet and ensure its survival. Within this environment, Schneider Electric found a concrete solution to reduce their carbon footprint regarding energy.

With a 180-year history of and more than 75 years of presence in Mexico, Schneider Electric has dedicated its efforts to create products for the safe and sustainable consumption of  energy. Today, it is one of the leaders in the global digital transformation, with electricity 4.0 as its main vector toward decarbonization.

"We are aware that the planet's resources are limited and e understand that electricity is a human right that allows us to move forward," said Jesús Carmona, President and CEO, Schneider Electric Mexico and Central America, at an event dedicated to the electricity 4.0 idea.

The business executive emphasized that today, the world is facing the biggest problems regarding power production in its history. "Climate change forces us not only to be efficient, but to be much more intelligent. The only energy today that can be clean, green and sustainable is electricity," he pointed out.

Because electricity has remained similar over the past 200 years, it is possible to count four major transformations that go hand in hand with the technological transformation humanity has engendered: Electricity 1.0 consists in the domestication of electricity. Electricity 2.0 was a phase defined by great transformation in the industry regarding centralization and large-scale production. Electricity 3.0 entered the scene when energy became decentralized though distributed generation (DG). Finally, Electricity 4.0 is a transformation in which digitalization and electricity converge. This combination may be key to contribute to the UN objectives on climate change, which has led Schneider to become a benchmark in the market as one of the companies most recognized and awarded regarding this issue.

“During this entire stage we have taken all that innovation technology and applied it to our own house, to our own operation. We have experimented and applied each of these different technologies and for this reason, we were given the opportunity to gradually evolve as a leader within this segment,” commented Mario Maldonado, Vice President of Secure Power in Mexico, Schneider Electric.
