CNBV Appoints Ángel Cabrera Mendoza as New President
The Mexican Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) announced that Ángel Cabrera Mendoza will assume the presidency of the National Banking and Securities Commission (CNBV) on Sept. 1, succeeding Jesús de la Fuente Rodríguez.
According to the Ministry, Cabrera will oversee efforts to ensure a robust and inclusive financial system, addressing technological innovation, market transformation, anti-money laundering supervision, and maintaining public confidence in financial institutions.
The Ministry emphasized that this appointment reaffirms its and the CNBV’s commitment to strengthening Mexico’s financial system and aligning with federal public policy objectives.
Cabrera has held senior roles within the Ministry of Finance, including positions in the Banking, Securities, and Savings Unit, the Fiscal Prosecutor’s Office of Financial Affairs, and the Undersecretary of Expenditures. His extensive experience in financial and regulatory matters will support the CNBV in issuing regulations, ensuring compliance, and supervising the financial system’s operations, the Ministry noted.
