Expanding Mining Supply Through Technology, AI: ÜBergbau
STORY INLINE POST
Q: How does your offering adapt to the Mexican market, which includes both open-pit and underground operations?
A: We understand both surface and underground mining operations, as well as their shared processes, primarily mineral processing. Our company is structured around three core divisions: surface mining, underground mining, and plant operations, where transformation takes place from comminution to the production of final materials.
Our business model focuses on collaborating with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). We partner with these companies to supply original parts and equipment directly to the mining industry, shortening the supply chain. This allows us to offer faster delivery times, higher value, and more competitive prices. In addition to supplying parts, we also provide maintenance and remanufacturing services. For instance, since we distribute compressors, we not only service our own equipment but also other brands widely used across the sector.
Q: How do your delivery times or results stand out ?
A: Our average delivery time is approximately 35 days from order confirmation to fulfillment. For critical components, such as compressors used in Pit Viper drills, we are the official representatives and distributors of Ingersoll Rand OEM in Mexico. Thanks to our agreements, we can deliver compressors within one to two weeks, compared to the 12 to 16 weeks typically required through traditional supply channels.
This difference translates directly into cost savings and operational continuity. By ensuring the availability of critical equipment, we have helped clients avoid losses worth millions of dollars. In some cases, for example, we have transported bronze bushings by air from Chile to Tucson or Mexico City within weeks, an operation that would normally take months. When a primary crusher or drill is down, every second counts, and our goal is to help clients minimize those interruptions through experience and responsiveness.
Q: Which of your product or service lines has shown the greatest growth in Mexico, and what has driven that performance?
A: Last year, we were recognized as the top global reseller for Ingersoll Rand OEM, which means we placed the highest number of compressors worldwide. This achievement is particularly meaningful because we are a 100% Mexican company that has operated for only five years.
We are now expanding operations throughout Mexico, entering the US market, and preparing to establish a presence in the Dominican Republic. Our business model is defined by proximity, technical expertise, availability, and competitive pricing. We aim to continue expanding into key mining regions, not only in Mexico and the southern United States but also in Central and South America. For instance, Argentina is showing strong potential to become one of the leading mining producers of this century if it maintains its current trajectory.
Q: What role does Mexico currently play in your global strategy?
A: Mexico remains our main market and a global leader in cost efficiency. The unit cost of copper production here is among the lowest in the world. This is possible not only because of the major mining operators working in the country but also thanks to local suppliers who help maintain that level of efficiency.
We have built a strong supply chain and a highly skilled workforce, which allows us to replicate our model in other regions. We are already collaborating with mining groups in the United States and have received interest from Peru. While Mexico continues to be our strategic base, our goal is to diversify geographically to ensure sustainable growth and operational resilience.
Q: How does your company integrate ESG principles into its operations?
A: We have implemented a comprehensive corporate social responsibility program. If you follow our activities on LinkedIn, you will see that we regularly support community initiatives, from local organizations and food programs to disaster relief efforts. These actions reflect our genuine commitment to giving back to the communities where we operate.
Beyond community support, we recognize the importance of strengthening the industry’s public perception. Mining is essential to human progress, it has shaped civilization since the Iron and Bronze Ages. Our role as responsible suppliers is to promote sustainable practices and transparency.
We are also aligning our operations with international standards such as ISO 9000 and NOM-035. Competing globally requires compliance with strict safety and ESG certifications. In countries like Chile and Australia, adherence to these frameworks is mandatory, and we fully embrace that challenge as part of our commitment to global competitiveness.
Q: What innovations or technological developments is your company introducing to mining operations?
A: One of our key areas of focus is water management. Given the growing environmental scrutiny around mining, we are promoting the use of dry tailings technology in Mexico. This innovation eliminates traditional tailings dams and replaces them with large-scale filter press systems. These allow for the recovery of up to 80–85% of water within the operational circuit, significantly reducing environmental impact and improving sustainability performance. It is an approach that aligns with the sector’s transition toward cleaner, safer, and more efficient mining practices.
We are also collaborating with several technology partners to implement innovations such as irrigator covers for leaching pads, a solution developed by our partner Kapper Tech. These systems prevent evaporation and dilution caused by rain or snow. Essentially, they create a greenhouse effect over the leaching piles, improving recovery rates and operational efficiency.
Our goal is to go beyond being a traditional equipment supplier. We want to be a provider of technology and innovation. To that end, we are incorporating artificial intelligence into our operations. This allows us to increase efficiency, optimize resources, and operate across different markets with varying regulations.
Q: Looking ahead five to 10 years, how does your company plan to evolve its service model to include new technologies?
A: Today, we are transitioning from a transactional model to one based on innovation and technology development. We are preparing to launch our own production plant in Mexico and agreements are already in place. This step will transform us from a trading company into a manufacturer and developer.
We are also investing heavily in AI, both for internal process optimization and to create digital tools for our clients. These capabilities distinguish us from many competitors, and we are committed to expanding them.
Our long-term vision is clear: to leverage Mexican expertise to serve the global mining industry. Within the next five to 10 years, we aim to become a global company offering advanced mining solutions across multiple regions, proudly carrying the Mexican flag as part of our identity and mission.
