Aggregates company Metso announced the recent inauguration of its Mexican offices in Zacatecas. Aiming to be close to its main customers, the company decided to open its offices within the Zacatecas Mining Cluster’s (CLUSMIN) facilities.
On Sept. 12, 2023, Metso celebrated the inauguration of its new facilities within the mining cluster of Zacatecas. The company noted that it has been a member of CLUSMIN for several years, which makes these offices an invaluable and unmissable opportunity to participate in the mining growth of the region. “The opening of this office in Zacatecas is one more step in our strategy to become closer with our clients and support them in achieving success. Our customers’ success is important; if they succeed, we succeed. Let us help them improve and achieve their goals," says Giuseppe Campanelli, President, Metso North and Central America.
Alfredo Monreal, Vice President of Sales and Services for Mexico and Central America, Metso, adds that opening offices in Zacatecas was the most logical step to take, as most of the company’s clients have operations there. Monreal stresses that its presence will transform the state into its regional service hub. “It is an honor for Metso to take this step towards strengthening our presence in the mining industry in Mexico. We will continue to work towards a more modern and sustainable industry, with this new office in Zacatecas being a cornerstone in this effort,” the company stated in a press release.
According to Jaime Lomelín, President, CLUSMIN, Metso’s presence is important for the cluster as it helps the organization meet its primary goal: to help local companies to develop their capabilities. The presence of strong suppliers put Zacatecas on the map as an important mining hub. "When we created the cluster, we had two objectives in mind: the first was to bring some spare parts closer to the clients and the second was to develop talent. We welcome you with great happiness and hope this office becomes your home," Lomelín adds.
For many years, Zacatecas has played a key role in the mining industry due to its substantial mineral reserves. The state is Mexico's largest producer of gold, zinc and silver, and it is the world's leading silver producer. Furthermore, Zacatecas is home to significant mining companies such as Newmont, which operates the largest gold project in the country, and Fresnillo, which manages the Fresnillo mine and the Juanicipio project through a joint venture with MAG Silver.
