The Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) has greenlighted the listing of Talos Energy on its International Quotation System (SIC), with trading set to commence on March 5. Talos Energy Inc., already listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), boasts a market value of US$1.995 billion, as per the information submitted to the BMV.

The approval, as announced in a statement released by the local stock center, underscores Talos Energy Inc.'s direct recognition by the National Banking and Securities Commission (CNBV), facilitating its listing and operations within the Mexican market.

With this addition, the International Quotation System now hosts a total of 3,680 securities, comprising 2,037 shares and 1,643 exchange-traded funds (ETFs), according to data from the stock exchange center.

Talos Energy in Mexico

Last May, Zamajal, a subsidiary of Grupo Carso, finalized a deal to acquire a 49.9% stake in Talos Mexico, which holds a 17.4% participation in the Zama mega-field. Carlos Slim has shared that Grupo Carso is willing to increase its involvement in Talos Energy.

The Zama offshore field has been at the center of a significant conflict in the oil sector since its opening to private investment in 2013. A dispute arose between PEMEX and the Talos-led consortium regarding ownership of the oil and gas reserves in Zama. The Ministry of Energy eventually ruled in favor of PEMEX. In February 2024, however, CNH disclosed that PEMEX faces delays at Zama, which will result in reduced oil production at the field.
