AMLO: Second-Best President. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that he remains the president with the second-best approval rate in the world. "Our humility allows us to connect and help people. We are doing quite well and I thank the Mexicans for their support."

According to the Morning Consult poll, López Obrador has a 66% approval rate, which places him behind India's Naredra Modi, who has a 77% approval.

Poverty Reduction.  López Obrador said that one of his most important achievements has been to reduce poverty and inequality. He added that his legacy will continue with the increase in minimum wages for 2024.

The National Council for the Evaluation of Social Development Policy (CONEVAL) reported that the percentage of Mexicans living in poverty decreased from 41.9% in 2018 to 36.3% in 2022. In view of this scenario, the Council of Representatives of the National Minimum Wage Commission (CONASAMI) will be on session on Dec. 1 to decide what the minimum wage will be for 2024. Among the proposals are the 12.8% increase suggested by the Mexican Confederation of Employers (COPARMEX) and the tripling of the minimum wage proposed by the Revolutionary Confederation of Workers and Farmers (CROC), which would make the minimum wage go from MX$6,223 (US$361.49) to US$17,567 (US$1020.46).

Mayan Train Archaeological Rescue Program. Diego Prieto, Director, National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), stated that the archaeological rescue program of the Mayan Train has recovered 58,044 archaeological buildings, 1,407,983 ceramic pieces, and 669 bones.
Previously, Prieto emphasized that the Mayan Train archaeological rescue program is one of the largest investigations on the ancient Maya cultures ever done in the country. However, the population continues to resist the construction of the Mayan Train Section 5 South, a key part of one of President López Obrador's flagship infrastructure megaprojects, since it could damage the karst landscapes, the integrity of groundwater caves, and cause significant deforestation, as well as destroy archeological and paleontological remains. Last year, Pietro reported that more than 29,000 archeological pieces have been recovered from the Mayan Train construction sites.
