HP, Cambridge Expand EdTech Fellowship to Latin America
Cambridge University Press & Assessment and HP are expanding their joint EdTech Fellowship to Latin America. Applications will be opened on May 1 for education officials and organizational leaders across the region.
“The fellowship creates connections between continents while recognizing that each country’s path is unique,” says Steve King, Head of Education Reform, Cambridge Partnership for Education. “Latin American leaders are already driving meaningful change, and we are pleased to invite them into this growing network.”
The move marks the first time the "HP Cambridge Partnership for Education EdTech Fellowship" will be available in South America, Mexico and the Caribbean. The program was previously implemented in Southeast Asia, Africa, and other regions, where it has trained 78 education leaders from 40 countries.
The fellowship is designed to equip education policymakers and stakeholders with tools to implement and scale technology-based solutions tailored to their local contexts. It offers a five-month hybrid curriculum that includes a residential week in Cambridge and ongoing access to a global network of alumni. Participants work on challenges such as limited internet connectivity, infrastructure gaps, and the integration of digital tools in teaching.
The initiative emphasizes using data to support decision making, expanding equitable access to digital education, strengthening teacher training, and building more resilient education systems. It also promotes the ethical and effective use of AI in classrooms.
According to Cambridge, by the end of 2024 the efforts of fellowship participants had already reached nearly 5 million students and educators through digital education initiatives. Organizers expect that number to grow significantly in the coming years.
“As we welcome new leaders from this dynamic region, we are strengthening a global movement of changemakers using technology to improve teaching and learning,” says Mayank Dhingra, Global Education Strategy Director, HP.
The program will be open to senior education officials and heads of education-focused organizations. Full financial support will be provided to selected fellows.
With the expansion to Latin America, Cambridge and HP aim to further accelerate the adoption of scalable, evidence-based digital education policies in one of the world’s most diverse and complex regions.
