Provident, UN Women Partner on Financial Inclusion
Provident Mexico, a leading microfinance company and subsidiary of International Personal Finance, has signed a collaboration agreement with UN Women Mexico to launch a financial inclusion initiative for women entrepreneurs. The three-year project, titled Finances for All: Financial Inclusion for Women Entrepreneurs, aims to promote gender equality and economic empowerment through education, policy development, and community support.
The initiative will focus on women in vulnerable conditions, particularly those affected by disasters, starting with over 1,650 beneficiaries in Oaxaca and the State of Mexico. Key components include financial literacy training, solidarity savings funds, and technical assistance for gender-responsive public policies.
The partnership also involves internal reforms at Provident, where UN Women will advise on corporate gender equality policies and provide leadership training for more than 150 company agents. Additionally, the project will address sociocultural barriers through awareness campaigns targeting gender stereotypes and violence prevention.
Moni Pizani, Representative, UN Women Mexico, said the alliance aligns with sustainable development goals. "Investing in women’s economic empowerment creates a direct path toward an inclusive future," she stated. Moreover, David Parkinson, Country Manager, Provident, emphasized the company’s commitment to gender equality and financial inclusion as drivers of social change.
The program will work with government agencies and civil society groups to implement the proposed strategies.
